Bedrijfsoverzicht

Insteel Industries Inc. is a specialized manufacturer and marketer of steel wire reinforcing products designed specifically for concrete construction applications. The company operates within the Industrials sector, focusing on the Metal Fabrication industry where it produces critical components like prestressed concrete strand and welded wire reinforcement. This entity employs a workforce of 1,007 individuals and maintains a market capitalization of $706.61 million. With annual revenue reaching $677.91 million, the financial scale suggests that Insteel holds a significant position within the niche market for construction materials, balancing substantial operational output with a valuation that reflects its specialized manufacturing capabilities.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported revenue of $677.91 million and net income of $47.53 million over the trailing twelve months, while generating an EBITDA of $80.61 million. The substantial gap between the revenue figure and the net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses and taxes consume approximately 7.0% of sales as profit, leaving a significant portion of revenue to cover the costs of production and overhead. Free cash flow stands at -$7,789,750, indicating a temporary outflow of cash that suggests the company is currently investing heavily in working capital or capital expenditures rather than generating immediate distributable cash. Gross margins sit at 15.0%, operating margins at 5.8%, and profit margins at 7.0%, levels that indicate a capital-intensive business model where cost control is essential to maintaining profitability in a competitive environment. On the balance sheet, the company holds $15.59 million in cash against $3.55 million in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.99, which characterizes the financial position as moderately leveraged rather than highly conservative. The current ratio is 3.58, a metric that signals strong short-term liquidity and the ability to comfortably meet obligations due within one year. Furthermore, the return on equity is 13.8% and the return on assets is 9.0%, metrics that demonstrate management effectiveness in generating returns relative to the shareholders' equity and the total asset base employed.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 14.99, while the forward P/E ratio is 11.38, implying that the market expects earnings to grow significantly in the coming year to justify the lower multiple. The price-to-book ratio is 1.97, indicating that the stock trades at a premium of roughly double its book value, which often reflects investor confidence in the company's intangible assets or growth prospects. Alternative valuation metrics show a price-to-sales ratio of 1.04 and an EV/EBITDA of 8.62, suggesting the company is valued based on a revenue multiple that aligns with its sales base and an enterprise value relative to earnings that is modest for the industrial sector. The stock has traded between a 52-week low of $26.23 and a 52-week high of $41.64, providing a clear range for price volatility analysis. The beta value is 0.82, which means the stock's price volatility is lower than the broader market, making it a less volatile investment compared to the overall index.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth for the year-on-year period stands at 23.3%, while earnings growth is reported at an impressive 603.3%, indicating that earnings are expanding at a much faster pace than revenue, likely driven by margin expansion or one-time factors. The company offers a dividend yield of 0.3% with a payout ratio of 4.9%, a low ratio that suggests the dividend is highly sustainable given the current earnings levels and leaves ample room for retention. The earnings growth rate far exceeds the revenue growth rate, which implies that the company is improving its efficiency or benefiting from pricing power rather than solely relying on volume increases. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a scenario of rapid earnings acceleration supported by a conservative dividend policy that prioritizes capital allocation flexibility.
