Bedrijfsoverzicht

Commercial Metals Company is a major industrial enterprise engaged in the manufacturing, recycling, and fabrication of steel and metal products alongside related materials and services across the United States, Poland, China, and international markets. The corporation operates within the Industrials sector, specifically the Metal Fabrication industry, which entails the transformation of raw materials into finished goods for construction, automotive, and energy applications. The company's scale is substantial, evidenced by a market capitalization of $7.30B, annual revenue of $8.39B, and an employee base of 12,690 individuals. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company holds a significant position in the global metal supply chain, serving as a critical provider of essential infrastructure materials to diverse industrial sectors worldwide.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported revenue of $8.39B over the trailing twelve months, with net income reaching $505.22M and EBITDA totaling $1.06B. The substantial gap between the $8.39B in revenue and the $505.22M in net income reveals a cost structure with significant operating expenses, resulting in a profit margin of 6.0% after accounting for all costs including interest and taxes. The firm generated $144.20M in free cash flow, which provides the necessary financial flexibility to fund capital expenditures, reduce leverage, or pursue strategic acquisitions without immediate reliance on external financing. Operating margins stand at 8.2%, indicating efficient core operations before interest and tax effects, while gross margins of 17.7% reflect the pricing power and cost efficiency in the fabrication of steel products. The balance sheet presents a leveraged profile with total debt of $3.60B against $495.04M in cash, supported by a debt-to-equity ratio of 81.61, suggesting the company relies heavily on debt financing to fund its operations and growth initiatives. Despite the leverage, the current ratio of 2.38 indicates robust short-term liquidity, demonstrating that the company holds more than twice the current assets required to meet its short-term liabilities. Return on equity stands at 12.0% and return on assets at 5.7%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in generating returns relative to shareholder equity and total asset base respectively.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

The stock trades with a trailing P/E ratio of 14.72 and a forward P/E of 9.50, where the significant difference between these two metrics implies that the market expects earnings growth to accelerate substantially in the coming year compared to historical performance. The price-to-book ratio is 1.66, indicating that the market values the company at a 66% premium over its net asset value, which reflects confidence in the quality of its assets and future earnings potential. Alternative valuation metrics such as a price-to-sales ratio of 0.87 and an EV/EBITDA of 9.82 suggest the company is valued reasonably relative to its sales volume and operational earnings power. Over the past year, the stock has exhibited a trading range between a 52-week low of $41.17 and a 52-week high of $84.87, placing the current valuation context within a wide historical band that accommodates significant cyclical fluctuations typical of the steel industry. The beta value of 1.47 signifies that the stock's price volatility is 47% higher than the broader market, reflecting its sensitivity to economic cycles and industrial demand shifts.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth accelerated by 21.5% year-over-year, while earnings growth surged by 277.3%, indicating that profitability is expanding at a much faster rate than top-line sales, likely driven by margin expansion or cost optimization initiatives. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 1.1% with a payout ratio of 16.1%, a low payout level that suggests high sustainability even if earnings were to face temporary headwinds. The minimal payout ratio allows the company to retain a majority of its earnings, effectively reinvesting capital back into the business to support organic growth and capacity expansion rather than distributing cash to shareholders. Overall, the company presents a growth profile characterized by double-digit revenue expansion and triple-digit earnings growth, complemented by a conservative dividend policy that prioritizes capital allocation for long-term value creation over high current income distributions.
