Mueller Industries, Inc. is a manufacturer and seller of copper, brass, and aluminum products that serves markets across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Asia, the Middle East, and Mexico. The company operates within the Industrials sector and specifically within the Metal Fabrication industry, positions that define its exposure to global infrastructure development and construction cycles. This industrial enterprise operates through three distinct segments: Piping Systems, Industrial Metals, and Climate, reflecting a diversified operational footprint. With a market capitalization of $13.44B, annual revenue of $4.18B, and an employee base of 4832, Mueller Industries holds a substantial position in the global metal fabrication landscape. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company is a large-cap entity with significant market presence, capable of sustaining operations across multiple international geographies while maintaining a workforce large enough to support complex fabrication processes.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $4.18B, generating a net income of $765.19M and an EBITDA of $963.18M during the reporting period. The gap between the total revenue of $4.18B and the net income of $765.19M reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold, administrative costs, and taxes, consume approximately 81.7% of total sales, leaving a robust but measured profitability margin. The business generated a free cash flow of $498.54M, which provides significant financial flexibility for capital expenditures, debt repayment, or potential share buybacks without requiring external financing. Profitability is further evidenced by a gross margin of 29.0%, an operating margin of 17.5%, and a profit margin of 18.3%, indicating efficient production scales and effective cost management at the operational level. The balance sheet demonstrates a highly conservative capital structure with total cash reserves of $1.39B significantly exceeding total debt obligations of $27.49M, supported by a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.85. Liquidity is exceptionally strong as indicated by a current ratio of 5.92, suggesting the company possesses more than five times the current assets necessary to cover its short-term liabilities. Management effectiveness is highlighted by a return on equity of 25.6% and a return on assets of 15.9%, metrics that demonstrate the ability to generate substantial returns on the capital invested by shareholders and the total asset base respectively.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

Valuation multiples for Mueller Industries, Inc. show a trailing P/E ratio of 17.66 and a forward P/E of 14.51, implying that the market expects earnings to grow faster in the coming year relative to the current historical performance. The price-to-book ratio stands at 4.20, indicating that the market values the company at a significant premium over its net book value, which often reflects intangible assets, brand strength, or growth expectations not captured on the balance sheet. Alternative valuation metrics, including a price-to-sales ratio of 3.22 and an EV/EBITDA of 12.57, suggest that the company is valued at a level consistent with mature industrial peers that generate high cash flows relative to their enterprise value. Regarding trading range, the 52-week high is recorded at $139.29 while the 52-week low is $67.91, providing a historical context for price volatility and investor sentiment over the last year. Growth & Income

Revenue growth for the trailing twelve months is recorded at 4.2%, while earnings growth reaches 13.9%, indicating that profitability is expanding at a rate significantly faster than top-line sales. This divergence suggests improved operational leverage, cost efficiencies, or a shift toward higher-margin product mixes within the Piping Systems, Industrial Metals, and Climate segments. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 1.2% with a payout ratio of 14.6%, a low ratio that indicates high sustainability and leaves ample room for future dividend increases or reinvestment in the business. The overall growth and income profile presents a combination of steady top-line expansion driven by industrial demand and a highly conservative dividend policy that prioritizes financial strength over current income distribution.
