Visão geral da empresa

A steel fabrication enterprise focused on the manufacturing and marketing of wire reinforcing products specifically designed for concrete construction applications. Insteel Industries Inc. operates within the Industrials sector, specifically under the Metal Fabrication industry, positioning itself as a specialized provider of infrastructure materials. The company employs a workforce of 1,007 individuals and holds a market capitalization of $699.63 million. Its annual revenue reaches $677.91 million, establishing it as a mid-cap player with significant operational scale in the industrial materials market. These valuation and revenue figures indicate a company that maintains a substantial presence in its niche, balancing steady production volume with a capital structure that reflects its industrial nature rather than a high-growth technology profile. The specific focus on prestressed concrete strand and welded wire reinforcement underscores its role as a critical supplier in the construction supply chain.

Saúde financeira

The company generated $677.91 million in revenue over the trailing twelve months, resulting in a net income of $47.53 million and an EBITDA of $80.61 million. The substantial gap between revenue and net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses and taxes consume a significant portion of top-line sales before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow stands at -$7,789,750, indicating a period where capital expenditures or working capital requirements exceeded cash generation from operations. This negative free cash flow suggests a need for careful management of liquidity and capital allocation during the current fiscal cycle. Gross margin is recorded at 15.0%, operating margin at 5.8%, and profit margin at 7.0%, reflecting the typical low-margin nature of industrial manufacturing. The relatively tight operating margin of 5.8% highlights the sensitivity of the business to input cost fluctuations and competitive pricing pressures in the construction sector. On the balance sheet, the company holds $15.59 million in cash against $3.55 million in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.99. This leverage level indicates a moderately leveraged position where debt usage is present but not excessive relative to equity. The current ratio is 3.58, which signifies robust short-term liquidity and a strong ability to meet obligations due within one year. Return on equity is 13.8% and return on assets is 9.0%, metrics that demonstrate effective management in generating returns on the capital invested in the business.

Avaliação de valorização

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 14.84, while the forward P/E is projected at 11.27. The difference between these two metrics implies that the market expects earnings to grow significantly in the coming year, driving the multiple lower on a forward basis. The price-to-book ratio stands at 1.95, indicating that the stock trades at a premium relative to its tangible book value, which is common for companies with intangible brand strength or specific market positions. Price-to-sales is 1.03 and EV/EBITDA is 8.53, providing alternative perspectives on valuation that normalize earnings by revenue and enterprise value respectively. These alternative metrics suggest the stock is priced conservatively relative to its sales and earnings power before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The 52-week high is $41.64 and the 52-week low is $23.40. To determine the current price position relative to this range, one must consider the implied trading levels based on the provided metrics, though the exact current price is not explicitly stated in the source data. The beta value is 0.82, which means the stock exhibits lower volatility than the broader market, typically moving less drastically than the S&P 500 during periods of market turbulence.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is 23.3%, while earnings growth year-over-year is 603.3%. Earnings are growing at a much faster rate than revenue, which often implies a one-time benefit, a significant cost reduction, or a major restructuring event impacting the bottom line disproportionately to sales. For dividend payers, the dividend yield is 0.3% and the payout ratio is 4.9%. This extremely low payout ratio indicates that the company retains nearly all of its earnings, suggesting the payout is highly sustainable and leaves ample room for reinvestment. Given the low yield and minimal payout, the company effectively reinvests earnings into growth initiatives rather than distributing substantial cash to shareholders. The overall growth and income profile presents a mix of strong top-line expansion and explosive earnings acceleration, supported by a capital return policy that prioritizes retention over dividend distribution.
