회사 개요

Southern Copper Corporation is a leading global enterprise engaged in the comprehensive mining, exploration, smelting, and refining of copper and other minerals across operations in Mexico, the United States, Peru, Brazil, Chile, and various other American nations. The company operates within the Basic Materials sector, specifically focusing on the Copper industry, which serves as a critical input for global infrastructure, electrical grids, and renewable energy technologies. This industrial giant employs a substantial workforce of 16,617 individuals, reflecting its massive operational footprint and logistical complexity. With a market capitalization of $154.61 billion and annual revenue reaching $13.42 billion, the company demonstrates a scale that positions it as a dominant force in the global copper supply chain, indicating significant market share and pricing influence.

재무 건전성

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $13.42 billion and generated a net income of $4.33 billion, supported by an EBITDA of $7.90 billion. The substantial gap between the $13.42 billion in revenue and the $4.33 billion in net income reveals a robust cost structure where high operating leverage allows the business to retain a significant portion of top-line sales as profit after accounting for substantial mining and processing expenses. Southern Copper generated $3.34 billion in free cash flow, which provides the organization with considerable financial flexibility to fund capital expenditures, service debt obligations, and return capital to shareholders without relying on external financing. Profitability is underscored by a gross margin of 60.9%, an operating margin of 54.5%, and a profit margin of 32.3%, all of which indicate highly efficient production processes and strong pricing power in a volatile commodity environment. Regarding liquidity and leverage, the company holds $4.91 billion in cash against total debt of $7.41 billion, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 66.76% that suggests a moderately leveraged balance sheet typical for capital-intensive mining firms. The current ratio stands at 3.89, indicating a very conservative short-term liquidity position where current assets significantly exceed current liabilities, ensuring the ability to meet obligations even during cash flow stress periods. Management effectiveness is highlighted by a return on equity of 42.7% and a return on assets of 21.8%, metrics that demonstrate the efficient deployment of capital to generate substantial returns for investors relative to the equity base and total asset pool.

밸류에이션 평가

Valuation metrics for Southern Copper Corporation show a trailing P/E ratio of 35.99 compared to a forward P/E of 32.93, implying that the market expects earnings growth to accelerate or stabilize at a higher rate in the coming year than what is reflected in current historical performance. The price-to-book ratio is recorded at 14.01, which indicates a significant market premium over the company's book value, suggesting that investors are willing to pay a high multiple for the underlying tangible assets and intangible value of the mining operations. Alternative valuation measures include a price-to-sales ratio of 11.52 and an EV/EBITDA of 19.89, figures that suggest the market prices the company based on strong earnings power relative to sales volume and enterprise value. The stock has demonstrated significant volatility over the past year, trading between a 52-week high of $223.89 and a 52-week low of $72.28, a range that highlights the sensitivity of the price to copper cycle fluctuations. The beta value of 1.17 indicates that the stock exhibits higher price volatility relative to the broader market, moving more aggressively than the general equity benchmark during periods of market stress or rally.

Growth & Income

The company achieved a revenue growth rate of 39.0% year-over-year and an earnings growth rate of 60.4% year-over-year, demonstrating that earnings are expanding at a significantly faster pace than revenue, which implies strong operational leverage and potential margin expansion or favorable commodity price dynamics. As a dividend payer, Southern Copper offers a dividend yield of 2.1% with a payout ratio of 58.4%, a distribution level that appears sustainable given the high level of free cash flow and the moderate debt-to-equity structure that supports consistent dividend coverage. The high earnings growth relative to revenue growth further supports the sustainability of the dividend by providing a growing cash base to fund the payout without requiring aggressive cuts in capital spending. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a company capable of delivering substantial capital appreciation through earnings expansion while maintaining a steady income stream for shareholders through a disciplined dividend policy.
