Présentation de l'entreprise

The company's core activities involve the complex processes of mining, milling, and flotation of copper ore to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates, establishing it as a critical player in the global supply chain for essential metals. As of the latest data, the corporation holds a substantial market capitalization of $154.61B and generates annual revenue of $13.42B, employing a workforce of 16,617 individuals globally. Santé financière

The company reports a trailing twelve-month revenue of $13.42B, with a corresponding net income of $4.33B and an EBITDA of $7.90B, highlighting a robust operational performance before interest and taxes. The substantial gap between the $13.42B revenue and the $4.33B net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including taxes and interest, consume approximately 67.7% of top-line sales, though the underlying EBITDA of $7.90B suggests strong operational leverage before financing costs. Free cash flow stands at $3.34B, which provides the organization with significant financial flexibility to service debt obligations, fund capital expenditures for mine development, or return capital to shareholders without compromising operational liquidity. Profitability efficiency is demonstrated through a gross margin of 60.9%, an operating margin of 54.5%, and a profit margin of 32.3%, indicating that the company retains a large portion of its sales revenue after covering the direct costs of production and overhead expenses. Regarding balance sheet strength, total cash holdings of $4.91B are slightly lower than total debt of $7.41B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 66.76%, which characterizes the balance sheet as moderately leveraged rather than conservative. The current ratio of 3.89 indicates a highly liquid position, meaning the company possesses nearly four times the current assets required to cover its short-term liabilities, ensuring it can meet immediate financial obligations comfortably. Return on equity is measured at 42.7% while return on assets stands at 21.8%, metrics that collectively reveal high management effectiveness in generating profits relative to the shareholders' equity and the total asset base utilized.

Évaluation de la valorisation

The valuation of Southern Copper Corporation is reflected in a trailing P/E ratio of 35.99 and a forward P/E of 32.93, where the difference between these two figures implies that the market expects earnings growth to accelerate in the coming year, thereby compressing the multiple relative to current profitability. The price-to-book ratio is recorded at 14.01, indicating that the market values the company at a significant premium of 13 times over its tangible book value, which often suggests confidence in intangible assets, brand strength, or future growth prospects not fully captured on the balance sheet. Alternative valuation metrics such as a price-to-sales ratio of 11.52 and an EV/EBITDA of 19.89 suggest that the company is priced based on high revenue generation and strong cash earnings power relative to its enterprise value. Price action analysis shows a 52-week high of $223.89 and a 52-week low of $72.28, placing the current trading context within a wide historical range that underscores the asset's volatility and sensitivity to commodity price cycles. The beta value of 1.17 indicates that the stock's price volatility is 17% higher than the broader market, meaning the stock tends to move more aggressively than the overall market index during periods of systemic risk or gain.

Growth & Income

Recent performance data highlights a revenue growth rate of 39.0% year-over-year paired with an earnings growth rate of 60.4% year-over-year, demonstrating that earnings are expanding at a significantly faster pace than revenue, which typically implies improved operational efficiency, favorable cost dynamics, or expanding margins driving profitability disproportionately to sales volume. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 2.1% supported by a payout ratio of 58.4%, a figure that suggests the dividend is sustainable given the high earnings growth and strong free cash flow generation relative to the dividend distributed. The elevated payout ratio leaves room for reinvestment or further dividend increases without jeopardizing financial stability, contrasting with firms that retain all earnings for growth. Overall, the growth and income profile of Southern Copper Corporation is characterized by double-digit earnings expansion, substantial free cash flow conversion, and a consistent commitment to shareholder returns through a stable dividend policy.
