企業概要

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is a premier provider of surface transportation, delivery, and logistics services operating primarily within the United States. The company structures its operations through five distinct segments, including Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Services, Integrated Capacity Solutions, Final Mile Services, and Truckload, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the supply chain. This entity operates within the Industrials sector, specifically classified under the Integrated Freight & Logistics industry, a domain characterized by the critical necessity of reliable infrastructure and operational efficiency for national commerce. With a market capitalization of $21.45B and an annual revenue of $12.00B, the company demonstrates significant economic scale supported by a workforce of 31,750 employees. These financial metrics indicate that J.B. Hunt commands a substantial position in the market, reflecting its capacity to manage complex logistics networks while maintaining a large operational footprint that rivals other major freight carriers.

財務健全性

The company reported a total revenue of $12.00B over the trailing twelve months, generating a net income of $598.28M and an EBITDA of $1.58B. The substantial gap between the $12.00B revenue and the $598.28M net income reveals a cost structure where approximately 95% of top-line revenue is consumed by operating expenses, leaving a thin margin for profitability after all costs are accounted for. J.B. Hunt generated free cash flow of $756.55M, which provides the organization with significant financial flexibility to fund capital expenditures, service debt obligations, or pursue strategic acquisitions without relying on external financing. The gross margin stands at 18.9%, while the operating margin is 8.0%, resulting in a final profit margin of 5.0%; these figures collectively indicate a capital-intensive business model where controlling variable costs such as fuel and driver wages is paramount to preserving profitability. On the balance sheet, the company holds $17.28M in cash against $1.72B in total debt, creating a scenario where debt significantly outweighs liquid assets, and a debt-to-equity ratio of 48.26 confirms a leveraged capital structure typical of the transportation sector. The current ratio is reported at 0.83, suggesting that short-term current assets are insufficient to cover immediate current liabilities without relying on operational cash generation or asset sales. Additionally, the return on equity (ROE) of 15.8% and return on assets (ROA) of 6.7% demonstrate that management is effectively deploying shareholder capital and utilizing the asset base to generate returns, despite the underlying leverage and margin pressures inherent in the industry.

バリュエーション評価

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 36.86, whereas the forward P/E ratio is projected to be 25.57, implying that the market expects a significant expansion in earnings per share in the coming years to justify the current high valuation. The price-to-book ratio stands at 5.98, indicating that the market prices the company's equity at nearly six times its book value, which reflects a substantial market premium assigned to its brand, network, and intangible assets. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.79 and an EV/EBITDA of 14.56 suggest that the stock is priced based on revenue generation and enterprise value relative to operating cash flow rather than just earnings. The stock has traded between a 52-week high of $236.00 and a 52-week low of $122.79, and without the specific current share price provided in the facts, the exact percentage deviation from these levels cannot be calculated, but the wide trading range highlights significant price volatility. The beta value of 1.22 indicates that the stock's price volatility is 22% higher than that of the broader market, meaning it tends to amplify market movements during periods of economic expansion or contraction.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year was -1.6%, while earnings growth for the same period reached 23.6%, indicating that earnings are expanding at a rate significantly faster than revenue, likely driven by cost controls, pricing power, or segment mix optimization. As a dividend payer with a yield of 0.8% and a payout ratio of 28.8%, the company distributes a small portion of its earnings to shareholders, and the low payout ratio suggests a sustainable dividend policy that leaves ample earnings for reinvestment. Given the robust free cash flow generation and the relatively low payout ratio, the company appears well-positioned to maintain its dividend while retaining capital for growth initiatives rather than aggressively expanding payouts. Overall, the growth and income profile reveals a mature logistics operator that is currently prioritizing earnings quality and capital retention over aggressive revenue expansion or high dividend growth.
