公司概述

Valero Energy Corporation manufactures, markets, and sells petroleum-based and low-carbon liquid transportation fuels and petrochemical products across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Latin America, Mexico, Peru, and international markets. The company operates within the Energy sector, specifically the Oil & Gas Refining & Marketing industry, which positions it as a critical link in the global supply chain for converting crude oil into usable fuels and chemical feedstocks. With a market capitalization of $71.66 billion, annual revenue of $115.94 billion, and an employee base of 9,785, Valero represents a substantial entity within the refining landscape. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company holds a dominant position in its sector, reflecting significant scale and operational reach that allows for substantial processing volume and market influence.

财务健康

The company reported revenue of $115.94 billion, net income of $2.34 billion, and EBITDA of $7.60 billion for the trailing twelve months. The substantial gap between the $115.94 billion revenue and the $2.34 billion net income reveals a cost structure heavily influenced by refining margins, feedstock costs, and significant operational expenses that absorb the majority of gross receipts. Valero generated $3.72 billion in free cash flow, which provides the financial flexibility to service debt, return capital to shareholders, and fund capital expenditures without relying solely on external financing. The gross margin stands at 13.2%, indicating the portion of revenue remaining after direct costs; the operating margin of 5.9% reflects efficiency in managing overhead and administrative expenses; and the profit margin of 2.0% demonstrates the final profitability after all expenses, taxes, and interest are deducted. The company holds $4.69 billion in cash against $11.70 billion in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 43.99%, which suggests a balance sheet that is moderately leveraged rather than highly conservative. A current ratio of 1.65 indicates that the company possesses 1.65 dollars in current assets for every dollar of current liabilities, signaling strong short-term liquidity and the ability to meet immediate obligations. Return on equity is 8.3% and return on assets is 5.0%, metrics that reveal how effectively management utilizes shareholder capital and total assets to generate profits relative to the level of investment.

估值评估

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 31.66, while the forward P/E is 15.14, a significant difference that implies the market expects earnings to grow substantially in the coming year compared to the current earnings baseline. The price-to-book ratio is 3.02, indicating that the market values the company at three times its book value, which suggests a premium assigned to its tangible assets and brand value relative to the accounting book value. Alternative valuation metrics include a price-to-sales ratio of 0.62 and an EV/EBITDA of 10.73, suggesting the company is trading at a discount relative to its sales while maintaining a reasonable multiple on earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The 52-week high is $258.43 and the low is $101.66, meaning the current trading price sits significantly below the 52-week high and reflects a wide trading range driven by commodity volatility. With a beta of 0.61, the stock exhibits lower volatility than the broader market, indicating that its price movements are less sensitive to general market fluctuations compared to high-beta equities.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is -2.1%, whereas earnings growth year-over-year is 317.9%, indicating that earnings are growing at a rate vastly faster than revenue, which implies a sharp expansion in profitability per unit sold or a significant reduction in costs. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 2.0% with a payout ratio of 59.7%, suggesting that the dividend is sustainable given that nearly 60% of earnings are distributed while the remainder supports capital needs and debt service. The high earnings growth rate relative to the slight revenue contraction reinforces the efficiency gains or margin expansion occurring within the refining business rather than volume expansion. Overall, the growth and income profile combines moderate dividend income with exceptional recent earnings acceleration, despite a minor decline in top-line revenue.
