Bedrijfsoverzicht

Donaldson Company, Inc. is a global manufacturer and distributor of filtration systems and replacement parts, serving a diverse range of industrial applications. The enterprise operates within the Industrials sector, specifically categorized under the Specialty Industrial Machinery industry, which implies a focus on specialized equipment rather than mass-market commodities. The company maintains a substantial scale, evidenced by a market capitalization of $10.27B, annual revenue of $3.75B, and an employee base of 15000. These financial figures indicate that the firm holds a significant position within its market segment, commanding a valuation that reflects established brand recognition and operational stability.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported a revenue of $3.75B and generated a net income of $378.50M, resulting in an EBITDA of $666.40M. The substantial gap between the $3.75B revenue and the $378.50M net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and administrative costs, absorb approximately 90% of top-line earnings before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow stands at $252.96M, indicating that the business generates sufficient cash from operations to cover capital expenditures and fund other strategic initiatives without relying on external financing. The gross margin is 34.6%, suggesting that the company retains a healthy portion of revenue after direct production costs. The operating margin of 13.6% and the profit margin of 10.1% further demonstrate the efficiency of the company's management in controlling overhead and delivering value to shareholders. In terms of liquidity and leverage, the company holds $194.40M in cash against $680.80M in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 43.22, which characterizes the balance sheet as moderately leveraged. The current ratio of 2.29 indicates robust short-term liquidity, as the firm possesses more than twice the current assets required to meet its short-term obligations. Return on Equity is 24.3% and Return on Assets is 11.8%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in generating returns relative to the equity invested and the total asset base utilized.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 27.70, while the forward P/E is 20.27, implying that the market expects earnings growth to accelerate significantly in the future to justify the lower forward multiple. The price-to-book ratio stands at 6.52, indicating that the market values the company at a substantial premium over its tangible book value, reflecting high intangible assets or strong brand equity. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 2.74 and the EV/EBITDA of 16.14 provide a broader perspective, suggesting the company is valued moderately high relative to its sales and earnings power. Regarding price levels, the 52-week high is $112.84 and the 52-week low is $61.17, providing a clear range of historical volatility for the stock. The beta value of 1.06 indicates that the stock's price volatility tracks closely with the broader market, moving slightly more than the market average during periods of fluctuation.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth for the year-over-year period is 3.0%, whereas earnings growth is -1.3%, which implies that earnings are currently declining relative to revenue, likely due to margin compression or one-time costs impacting profitability. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 1.4% with a payout ratio of 36.6%, suggesting that the dividend is sustainable given the current earnings level and leaves ample room for retention. The low payout ratio indicates that the company retains the majority of its earnings to reinvest in operations, maintain its filtration business segments, and potentially reduce debt. Overall, the growth and income profile reflects a mature industrial company providing steady income through dividends while managing a period of earnings contraction amidst modest revenue expansion.
