회사 개요
ArcBest Corporation operates as an integrated logistics provider delivering comprehensive transportation solutions across ground, air, and ocean networks on a global scale. The enterprise functions within the Industrials sector and specifically targets the Trucking industry, a critical component of the supply chain infrastructure that facilitates the movement of general commodities including food products. The company maintains a significant operational footprint employing approximately 14,000 personnel to support its extensive asset-based and asset-light business segments. With a market capitalization of $2.46 billion and annual revenues reaching $4.01 billion, ArcBest holds a substantial position in the logistics market, indicating a large-scale enterprise capable of managing complex multimodal freight operations. The valuation metrics suggest a company with established market presence, while the revenue figure reflects a mature business model that generates consistent cash flows from its diversified transportation portfolio.
재무 건전성
The company reported total revenues of $4.01 billion and an EBITDA of $254.29 million for the trailing twelve months, while net income stood at $60.10 million. The substantial disparity between the $4.01 billion in revenue and the $60.10 million in net income highlights a compressed cost structure where operating expenses, including fuel, labor, and maintenance, consume a significant portion of gross revenue. Free cash flow generation amounted to $79.07 million, providing the firm with moderate financial flexibility to fund capital expenditures or service debt obligations without relying on external equity financing. Profitability is characterized by a gross margin of 7.8%, an operating margin of 0.4%, and a profit margin of 1.5%, which collectively indicate high-cost operational dynamics typical of the trucking industry where thin margins are standard due to competitive pricing and volatile input costs. On the balance sheet, the company holds $124.23 million in cash against $464.58 million in total debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 35.85, which points to a highly leveraged financial structure rather than a conservative one. Liquidity is constrained by a current ratio of 0.95, signaling that current liabilities exceed current assets and suggesting limited short-term liquidity coverage. Return on equity is calculated at 4.6% and return on assets at 2.1%, metrics that reveal limited effectiveness in generating returns relative to the capital invested and the asset base employed.
밸류에이션 평가
Valuation multiples for ArcBest show a trailing P/E ratio of 41.69 compared to a forward P/E of 14.82, a stark divergence that implies the market currently prices in significant future earnings growth that has not yet materialized in historical results. The price-to-book ratio stands at 1.88, indicating that the stock trades at a premium relative to its tangible book value, suggesting investors are willing to pay more for the company's assets than their replacement cost. Alternative valuation metrics further illustrate the disconnect between current profitability and market pricing, with a price-to-sales ratio of 0.61 and an EV/EBITDA multiple of 10.91. The stock's trading range over the past year spans from a 52-week low of $55.19 to a high of $112.92, placing the current valuation in a context where the market cap of $2.46 billion reflects recent volatility. The beta of 1.43 indicates that the stock exhibits higher price volatility than the broader market, moving 43% more aggressively than the index on average during periods of market fluctuation.
Growth & Income
Revenue growth for the year-over-year period was recorded at -2.9%, while earnings growth is listed as N/A, reflecting the cyclical nature of the logistics sector where earnings often lag behind revenue changes due to margin compression. The absence of reported earnings growth data suggests that profitability metrics have remained flat or declined in proportion to revenue, implying that the company is currently prioritizing market share or cost management over top-line expansion. As a dividend payer, ArcBest offers a yield of 0.4% with a payout ratio of 18.3%, a conservative level that suggests the dividend is sustainable given the current earnings and cash flow generation capabilities. The low payout ratio combined with the recent revenue contraction indicates a cautious approach to capital allocation, where the company retains most of its cash to address its high leverage rather than distributing it to shareholders.
