公司概述

Waste Management, Inc. operates as a leading provider of environmental solutions serving residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal clients across the United States, Canada, Western Europe, and international markets. The company functions within the Industrials sector, specifically focusing on the Waste Management industry, which encompasses the comprehensive collection, transportation, and processing of waste materials. This entity employs a workforce of 60,500 individuals and maintains a substantial market capitalization of $93.34 billion, reflecting its position as a major market participant. With annual revenue reaching $25.20 billion, the valuation metrics indicate that the market assigns a significant premium to the company's established operational footprint and recurring revenue streams in the waste services sector.

财务健康

The company reported total revenue of $25.20 billion over the trailing twelve months, generating net income of $2.71 billion and EBITDA of $7.56 billion during the same period. The substantial gap between the $25.20 billion in revenue and the $2.71 billion in net income highlights a cost structure where operating expenses, including labor and fuel costs, consume a significant portion of gross sales before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow stands at $1.73 billion, demonstrating the company's ability to generate cash beyond its operational expenditures, which provides financial flexibility for capital allocation and debt servicing. Gross margin is recorded at 40.4%, indicating the efficiency in controlling direct costs associated with waste collection and disposal relative to revenue. Operating margin reaches 20.0%, while profit margin settles at 10.7%, revealing the cumulative impact of operating expenses and taxes on the final earnings available to shareholders. The balance sheet shows cash holdings of $201.00 million against total debt of $23.92 billion, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 239.38, which suggests a highly leveraged financial structure typical of capital-intensive utility-like businesses. Current ratio is 0.89, indicating that current assets are slightly below current liabilities, a condition often observed in industries with high fixed asset bases and specific working capital cycles. Return on equity is 29.7% and return on assets is 6.5%, metrics that reveal how effectively management utilizes shareholder equity and total assets to generate profit, with the high ROE driven by the significant financial leverage present on the balance sheet.

估值评估

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 34.49, while the forward P/E is 24.72, implying that the market expects earnings growth to occur in the future, thereby lowering the multiple needed to justify current stock prices. The price-to-book ratio stands at 9.33, indicating that the market values the company at a significant premium over its book value, reflecting intangible assets like licenses and brand value as well as the stability of its regulated operations. Alternative valuation metrics include a price-to-sales ratio of 3.70 and an EV/EBITDA of 15.49, which provide context for the company's valuation relative to its sales volume and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The stock's 52-week trading range spans from a low of $194.11 to a high of $248.13, and without the current specific share price in the provided data, the positioning relative to this range cannot be mathematically calculated from the available facts alone. The beta value is 0.55, indicating that the stock exhibits lower volatility than the broader market, suggesting that price fluctuations are typically less sensitive to general market movements compared to high-beta industrial peers.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is 7.1%, while earnings growth year-over-year is 23.6%, demonstrating that earnings are expanding at a significantly faster rate than revenue, which often implies leverage effects or cost efficiencies realized in recent periods. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 1.5% with a payout ratio of 49.2%, a level that appears sustainable given the robust earnings growth and consistent cash flow generation observed in the financial data. The sustainable payout ratio allows the company to return capital to shareholders while retaining sufficient earnings to fund operations and maintain its debt obligations. The overall growth and income profile presents a combination of moderate top-line expansion and accelerating profitability, supported by a stable dividend yield that provides income to investors without compromising the company's capital structure.
