公司概述

National HealthCare Corporation operates as a comprehensive provider of healthcare services, encompassing skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living facilities, homecare, hospice agencies, and health hospitals. The company functions within the broader healthcare sector, specifically categorized under the medical care facilities industry, which implies a focus on delivering essential clinical and supportive care services to diverse patient populations. This entity manages a substantial workforce of 15,278 employees, supporting its extensive operational footprint across multiple segments including inpatient care and homecare and hospice services. With a market capitalization of $2.76 billion and annual revenue reaching $1.52 billion, the company demonstrates significant scale, positioning it as a major player capable of influencing local healthcare markets and sustaining a large operational infrastructure.

财务健康

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $1.52 billion, with corresponding net income of $120.02 million and EBITDA of $173.27 million. The gap between the $1.52 billion revenue and the $120.02 million net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and overhead, absorb approximately $1.40 billion of the top-line revenue before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow stands at $108.38 million, indicating that the company generates sufficient operational cash to cover capital expenditures while retaining liquidity for strategic initiatives or debt servicing. Profit margins are segmented into a gross margin of 39.3%, an operating margin of 8.6%, and a profit margin of 7.9%, suggesting that after covering the cost of revenue, the company retains roughly 8 cents for every dollar of sales as operating profit, with the final net margin further diluted by interest, taxes, and other non-operating expenses. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $255.80 million against total debt of $87.07 million, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 8.10, which indicates a highly leveraged capital structure where debt obligations are significant relative to shareholder equity. Despite the high leverage, the current ratio of 1.82 suggests strong short-term liquidity, as current assets are nearly double the current liabilities, providing a comfortable buffer against immediate obligations. Return on equity is recorded at 11.9% while return on assets sits at 5.3%, revealing that management is generating returns primarily through the use of financial leverage, as the return on assets is substantially lower than the return on equity.

估值评估

The stock trades at a trailing P/E ratio of 23.05 and a forward P/E of 411.19, a stark discrepancy implying that the market expects a dramatic shift in earnings or that current earnings are unusually low due to one-time factors, causing the forward metric to appear inflated relative to historical performance. The price-to-book ratio is 2.57, indicating that the market values the company at a significant premium over its book value, reflecting expectations of future growth or intangible assets not fully captured on the balance sheet. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.82 and an EV/EBITDA of 14.92 provide context, showing that the company is valued at roughly 1.8 times its sales revenue and that enterprise value relative to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization remains within a moderate range for the sector. The 52-week trading range spans from a low of $89.14 to a high of $177.39, meaning the current market price sits within this historical band but requires calculation against the live price to determine exact percentage distance from these extremes. The beta value of 0.59 indicates that the stock exhibits lower volatility than the broader market, suggesting that price movements are less sensitive to general market fluctuations compared to high-beta equities.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth stands at 4.6% year-over-year, while earnings growth reaches an impressive 306.3% year-over-year, indicating that earnings are expanding significantly faster than revenue, likely driven by cost synergies, margin expansion, or the recognition of previously deferred income. The company offers a dividend yield of 1.4% with a payout ratio of 33.0%, demonstrating that the dividend is sustainable given the robust earnings growth and the low absolute level of debt relative to equity. The substantial earnings growth rate relative to the modest revenue growth suggests that the company is improving its profitability per unit of sales, potentially through operational efficiencies or pricing power in its skilled nursing and homecare segments. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a hybrid characteristic of steady top-line expansion in the healthcare sector paired with aggressive earnings improvement and a modest but consistent dividend distribution.
