회사 개요

Cabot Corporation operates within the basic materials sector, specifically focusing on the specialty chemicals industry where it manufactures and distributes high-performance materials essential for various industrial applications. The company's core business involves the production of reinforcing carbons utilized as rubber reinforcing agents in tires, alongside performance additives that enhance material properties across different manufacturing processes. This specialized operational model is supported by a workforce of 4,064 employees, reflecting a substantial organizational footprint dedicated to research, development, and global logistics. With a market capitalization of $3.90 billion and annual revenue reaching $3.61 billion over the trailing twelve months, Cabot Corporation holds a significant position in the market, indicating it is a mid-to-large-cap entity with established distribution networks and a diversified product portfolio that commands investor attention within the chemical materials space.

재무 건전성

The company reported a total revenue of $3.61 billion for the trailing twelve months, generating net income of $306.00 million and an EBITDA of $763.00 million, which highlights a substantial gap between top-line revenue and bottom-line profit. This disparity between revenue and net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, taxes, and interest costs consume approximately 77.4% of the gross revenue before reaching the net income figure. Free cash flow stands at $291.62 million, providing the firm with tangible liquidity to fund capital expenditures, repay debt, or return capital to shareholders without relying solely on external financing. The gross margin is reported at 25.6%, indicating the efficiency of production costs relative to selling prices, while the operating margin of 15.2% and profit margin of 8.6% demonstrate the company's ability to control overhead and convert sales into actual earnings. On the balance sheet, the company holds $230.00 million in cash against $1.13 billion in total debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 65.12, which suggests a leveraged financial position where debt obligations exceed equity capitalization. The current ratio is 1.67, indicating that current assets are more than one and a half times current liabilities, which points to adequate short-term liquidity to meet obligations as they come due. Furthermore, the return on equity (ROE) is 21.8% and the return on assets (ROA) is 10.2%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in generating profits from shareholder investments and utilizing the total asset base efficiently despite the leverage present on the balance sheet.

밸류에이션 평가

The valuation metrics show a trailing P/E ratio of 13.06 and a forward P/E of 10.89, implying that the market expects earnings growth in the future as the forward multiple is lower than the trailing multiple. The price-to-book ratio is 2.48, suggesting that the market values the company at a significant premium over its net asset book value, reflecting confidence in the brand's intangible assets and future cash flow potential. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.08 and an EV/EBITDA of 6.49 provide additional context, indicating that the company trades at roughly one dollar of sales per share of stock and has an enterprise value relative to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization that is moderate for the materials sector. The 52-week trading range spans from a low of $58.33 to a high of $83.71, meaning the current stock price sits within this historical volatility band and is not currently at extreme peaks or troughs relative to its recent price history. The beta value is 0.83, which indicates that the stock price tends to be less volatile than the broader market, moving with slightly less intensity than the S&P 500 index during periods of market fluctuation.

Growth & Income

Recent financial performance data indicates that revenue growth year-over-year was -11.1% while earnings growth year-over-year was -18.2%, showing that earnings are contracting at a faster rate than revenue and implying potential margin compression or one-time costs impacting the bottom line more severely than the top line. Cabot Corporation pays a dividend with a yield of 2.4% and maintains a payout ratio of 31.1%, indicating that the dividend is paid out of a portion of earnings rather than all of them, which suggests a degree of sustainability even during periods of declining earnings. The relatively low payout ratio allows the company to retain earnings for reinvestment in operations or to build cash reserves to weather the current revenue decline. Overall, the growth and income profile reflects a company currently experiencing a contraction phase in earnings and revenue but maintaining a stable dividend policy that offers some income support to shareholders while navigating challenging market conditions.
