분석

회사 개요

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. is a global manufacturer and marketer that provides a comprehensive range of products within the food, beverage, health, biosciences, scent, and complementary adjacent sectors across the United States and international markets. The company operates within the Basic Materials sector, specifically focusing on the Specialty Chemicals industry, which signifies its role in producing high-value, specialized chemical compounds essential for various downstream applications. In terms of scale, the entity commands a market capitalization of $18.68B and generated annual revenue totaling $10.89B, while employing a workforce of 21,500 individuals. These financial dimensions indicate that IFF functions as a substantial player in the global specialty chemicals landscape, possessing significant operational reach and capital resources that allow it to maintain a dominant position in its niche markets.

재무 건전성

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $10.89B, yet recorded a net income of -$361,000,000, while generating an EBITDA of $1.86B. The substantial disparity between the positive revenue figure and the negative net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including interest and taxes, are sufficient to wipe out all operating profits, resulting in a reported loss on the income statement. Despite the accounting loss, the firm demonstrated robust financial flexibility by producing free cash flow of $3.09B, which provides ample liquidity for debt servicing, capital expenditures, and potential shareholder returns independent of accounting earnings volatility. Profitability metrics show a gross margin of 36.2%, indicating strong pricing power and cost control in production, an operating margin of 4.6% reflecting moderate efficiency in managing overheads, and a profit margin of -3.3% highlighting the impact of non-operating costs on the bottom line. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $590.00M against a total debt load of $6.65B, with a debt-to-equity ratio of 46.88, suggesting a highly leveraged capital structure where debt obligations significantly outweigh equity. Liquidity analysis indicates a current ratio of 1.42, which suggests the company holds sufficient current assets to cover its short-term liabilities, providing a buffer against immediate liquidity pressures. Return metrics display a return on equity of -2.6% and a return on assets of 2.1%, revealing that management is currently destroying value relative to shareholders' equity due to the net loss, while asset utilization remains marginally positive.

밸류에이션 평가

Valuation multiples for the stock include a trailing P/E ratio listed as N/A due to the negative net income, and a forward P/E of 15.23, which implies that the market anticipates a significant turnaround in earnings trajectory to justify current pricing. The price-to-book ratio stands at 1.32, indicating that the market values the company at a 32% premium over its net asset book value, reflecting confidence in its intangible assets and future cash generation capabilities. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.72 and an EV/EBITDA of 13.34 suggest the company is priced reasonably relative to its revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, offering a more stable perspective than the trailing P/E. The stock has traded within a 52-week range bounded by a high of $84.45 and a low of $59.14, providing a clear historical context for price discovery. The beta value of 1.03 indicates that the stock's price volatility moves in tandem with the broader market, suggesting it does not exhibit aggressive upside or downside deviation compared to the overall equity market index.

Growth & Income

Recent performance data shows a revenue growth year-over-year of -6.6%, while earnings growth is N/A due to the reported net loss, indicating that earnings are not currently growing faster than revenue as both metrics are under pressure from the recent decline. The company is a dividend payer with a dividend yield of 2.2%, supported by a payout ratio of 168.4%, which suggests the dividend is being funded from cash flow rather than accounting earnings and may not be sustainable if earnings do not recover quickly. Given the payout ratio exceeding 100%, the firm relies on its strong free cash flow generation to maintain the dividend rather than reinvesting accounting earnings into growth initiatives. The overall growth and income profile presents a mix of declining revenue and a high-yield dividend that requires close monitoring of the company's ability to normalize earnings to support the current payout levels.
