企業概要

Kennametal Inc. is a global enterprise focused on the development and application of advanced tungsten carbides, ceramics, and hard material solutions across diverse industrial applications. The company operates within the Industrials sector, specifically in the Tools & Accessories industry, where it serves as a critical supplier for manufacturing and infrastructure needs. This industrial giant employs a workforce of 8,100 individuals and maintains a market capitalization of $2.98 billion, supported by annual revenue of $2.03 billion. These financial figures indicate that Kennametal possesses a substantial market presence, positioning it as a significant player capable of generating multi-hundred-million-dollar revenue streams while managing a large global operation. The scale of its operations, reflected in the $2.03 billion revenue, suggests robust demand for its cutting and infrastructure solutions, while the $2.98 billion market cap reflects investor valuation of its long-term growth potential within the industrial tools space.

財務健全性

The company reported total revenue of $2.03 billion for the trailing twelve months, with a net income of $110.26 million and EBITDA of $318.76 million. The significant disparity between the $2.03 billion revenue and the $110.26 million net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and overhead, consume a substantial portion of top-line growth before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow stands at $93.24 million, indicating that the company generates sufficient liquidity to fund operations, service debt obligations, and potentially pursue strategic acquisitions or capital expenditures without relying on external financing. Gross margin is reported at 31.2%, which reflects the pricing power and manufacturing efficiency inherent in producing specialized hard materials and tooling systems. Operating margin sits at 10.2%, while profit margin is 5.4%, collectively demonstrating that for every dollar of revenue, approximately 5.4 cents remain as net profit after all costs and taxes are deducted. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $129.32 million against total debt of $644.39 million, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 47.46, which suggests the company carries a leveraged capital structure typical for capital-intensive manufacturing industries. Despite the leverage, the current ratio of 2.55 indicates a strong short-term liquidity position, as the company holds more than double the current assets required to cover its current liabilities. Return on equity is 8.9%, and return on assets is 4.5%, metrics that provide insight into how effectively management utilizes shareholder capital and total assets to generate earnings relative to the asset base.

バリュエーション評価

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 27.34, whereas the forward P/E is projected at 15.56, implying that the market expects a significant acceleration in earnings per share in the coming fiscal periods. The price-to-book ratio stands at 2.27, indicating that the market values the company at more than twice its net asset book value, suggesting a premium placed on its intangible assets, brand equity, and future growth prospects. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.47 and the EV/EBITDA of 11.10 offer additional context, showing that the company is valued at roughly 1.47 times its sales and 11.10 times its unlevered earnings, which is often a standard multiple for industrials with stable cash flows. The stock has traded within a 52-week range between $17.30 and $42.03, and without a specific current price provided in the facts, the valuation can be contextualized relative to these historical extremes where the lower bound represents a discount of approximately 58.8% from the high. The beta value is 1.47, which signifies that the stock is expected to be approximately 47% more volatile than the broader market index, reflecting higher sensitivity to economic cycles and industrial sector fluctuations.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is recorded at 9.8%, while earnings growth year-over-year is substantially higher at 91.3%, implying that the company is improving its profitability margins or benefiting from operational leverage that allows earnings to expand at a much faster rate than top-line sales. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 2.0% with a payout ratio of 55.9%, indicating that the dividend is funded by a healthy portion of earnings and is likely sustainable given the robust earnings growth trajectory. The high earnings growth rate relative to revenue suggests that the business is transitioning from a pure volume growth phase to a phase where efficiency gains or pricing power are driving bottom-line expansion. Overall, the growth and income profile combines moderate top-line expansion with exceptional earnings acceleration and a sustainable dividend yield, presenting a balanced case for capital appreciation and income generation within the industrial tools sector.
