公司概述

Matador Resources Company operates as an independent energy enterprise focused on the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas resources within the United States. The company functions through two distinct business segments, specifically Exploration and Production and Midstream, which collectively define its operational footprint in the energy sector. Matador Resources Company is categorized within the Energy sector and the Oil & Gas E&P industry, positioning it as a producer of hydrocarbon assets rather than a utility or consumer goods provider. With a market capitalization of $7.43B, annual revenue of $3.66B, and an employee base of 483, the company demonstrates a significant scale that reflects a substantial presence in the upstream oil and gas landscape. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company commands a large market share relative to its peer group, suggesting it is a major player capable of influencing local market dynamics while managing complex upstream operations across multiple basins.

财务健康

The company reported a total revenue of $3.66B and generated net income of $759.22M, with an EBITDA reaching $2.43B over the trailing twelve months. The substantial gap between the $3.66B revenue and the $759.22M net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including depletion, depreciation, amortization, and taxes, consume approximately 79.2% of top-line earnings before reaching the bottom line. However, the gross margin stands at an impressive 79.7%, indicating that the cost of goods sold is relatively low compared to the selling price of the extracted resources. The operating margin of 24.1% and the profit margin of 20.8% further illustrate the company's ability to manage overhead costs effectively while maintaining profitability across its diverse portfolio of wells. Despite generating $2.43B in EBITDA, the free cash flow is recorded at -$170,397,248, which signals a period of significant capital expenditure where cash outflows for development exceed operational cash generation. On the balance sheet, the company holds $15.31M in cash against $3.55B in total debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 59.18, which characterizes a highly leveraged financial position reliant on future production cash flows to service obligations. The current ratio of 0.79 indicates that current assets are insufficient to cover current liabilities without relying on external financing or asset sales, suggesting constrained short-term liquidity. Return on Equity is calculated at 15.0% while Return on Assets sits at 6.8%, metrics that reveal management is utilizing shareholder equity efficiently but faces challenges in generating high returns on the total asset base due to the capital-intensive nature of the E&P business.

估值评估

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 9.81, while the forward P/E ratio is projected at 7.49, implying that the market expects earnings to increase significantly in the coming year to justify the lower multiple. The price-to-book ratio of 1.31 suggests that the stock trades at a modest premium of 31% above its book value, reflecting investor confidence in the quality of the underlying oil and gas reserves. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 2.03 and the EV/EBITDA of 4.65 provide additional context, indicating that the company is valued reasonably relative to its sales volume and cash earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The 52-week high is $66.84 and the 52-week low is $35.19, meaning the current trading price sits within the lower half of this historical range, specifically trading below the recent peak. The beta value of 0.91 indicates that the stock's price volatility is slightly lower than the broader market, suggesting it may be slightly less sensitive to general market fluctuations compared to the S&P 500.

Growth & Income

Over the past year, revenue growth declined by -12.5% while earnings growth fell by -9.6%, indicating that earnings are declining at a slower pace than revenue, which often points to improving margins or favorable hedging outcomes. The company offers a dividend yield of 2.5% with a payout ratio of 21.6%, suggesting that the dividend is currently supported by earnings and is theoretically sustainable given the low payout percentage relative to net income. With negative free cash flow and declining revenue, the dividend policy appears cautious, preserving capital for essential drilling activities rather than aggressive share buybacks. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a mix of high profitability margins offset by recent contraction in top-line sales and a leveraged balance sheet that requires careful capital allocation.
