公司概述

DTE Energy Company operates within the Utilities sector, specifically focusing on the Regulated Electric industry, where it provides essential energy services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The enterprise engages in energy-related businesses and services, utilizing four distinct segments including Electric, Gas, DTE Vantage, and Energy Trading to generate, purchase, distribute, and sell electricity. As of the latest reporting period, the company commands a market capitalization of $31.41B while reporting annual revenue of $15.81B and employing a workforce of 9650 individuals. These financial scales indicate that DTE is a substantial entity within its industry, managing significant assets to serve approximately 2.3 million residential and commercial customers through its primary electric segment. The combination of a high market cap and robust revenue stream suggests the company holds a dominant position in the regulated utility landscape, reflecting the capital-intensive nature of its operations and the steady demand for its energy distribution services.

财务健康

The company reported total revenue of $15.81B, with net income reaching $1.46B and EBITDA standing at $3.62B, illustrating a substantial gap between top-line revenue and bottom-line profit that highlights the significant operational costs inherent in utility distribution and generation. This revenue-to-net-income disparity reveals a cost structure where a considerable portion of gross revenue is absorbed by cost of goods sold and operating expenses before arriving at the final profit figure. The free cash flow stands at -$1.75B, indicating a negative cash generation period which implies the company is currently utilizing cash reserves or increasing debt to fund its capital expenditures rather than generating excess liquidity for immediate shareholder returns. Regarding margins, the gross margin is 30.3%, the operating margin is 15.9%, and the profit margin is 9.2%, with these figures demonstrating that for every dollar of revenue, only a fraction remains as profit after covering all operational costs and taxes. The balance sheet shows a cash balance of $208.00M against total debt of $26.29B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 213.60%, which characterizes the company as highly leveraged with a conservative cash position relative to its long-term obligations. The current ratio is 0.80, suggesting that the company's current assets are insufficient to cover its current liabilities without relying on external financing or asset liquidation. Return on Equity is 12.2% while Return on Assets is 2.9%, indicating that management generates a moderate return on shareholders' equity but a lower return on the total asset base, typical for capital-heavy regulated utilities.

估值评估

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 21.45, while the forward P/E is projected at 18.16, implying that the market expects earnings growth in the future that would justify a lower multiple relative to current earnings. The price-to-book ratio stands at 2.55, indicating that the market values the company at a premium of roughly 155% over its book value, reflecting investor confidence in its regulated cash flows and asset base. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.99 and the EV/EBITDA of 15.89 provide additional context, suggesting the stock is priced in line with peers for a utility company with its specific growth profile. The 52-week high was $154.63 and the low was $123.69, and without the current specific stock price provided in the facts, the valuation range establishes the volatility boundaries within which the stock has traded over the last year. With a beta of 0.43, the stock exhibits low price volatility relative to the broader market, making it less sensitive to overall market fluctuations compared to the average equity.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is 28.9% while earnings growth is 25.5%, indicating that earnings are growing at a slightly slower pace than revenue, which suggests that cost increases or margin compression are offsetting some of the top-line expansion. For dividend payers, the dividend yield is 3.0% and the payout ratio is 63.1%, indicating that the company distributes a significant portion of its earnings but retains enough to fund its capital needs and negative free cash flow. The sustainability of this payout is contingent upon the stability of its regulated revenue streams and its ability to manage the high debt load while maintaining positive operating margins. The overall growth and income profile reflects a utility stock offering moderate earnings expansion paired with a solid dividend yield, balancing income generation with the capital requirements of its regulated business model.
