회사 개요

United Rentals, Inc. operates as a major equipment rental company serving the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand through its subsidiaries. The firm functions within the Industrials sector, specifically focusing on the Rental & Leasing Services industry, providing essential capital goods to contractors and businesses without requiring them to own the assets. This industrial entity employs approximately 28,500 people globally, reflecting a massive operational footprint that supports diverse construction and industrial needs. With a market capitalization of $47.92 billion and trailing twelve-month revenue of $16.10 billion, the company holds a significant position in the global equipment rental landscape, indicating substantial scale and market influence. These valuation and revenue figures suggest that the company is a dominant player capable of influencing pricing dynamics and supply chain availability within its core markets.

재무 건전성

The company reported trailing twelve-month revenue of $16.10 billion and net income of $2.49 billion, supported by an EBITDA of $4.46 billion. The substantial gap between the $16.10 billion in revenue and the $2.49 billion in net income highlights a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold, administrative costs, and depreciation, consume a significant portion of top-line earnings, resulting in a profit margin of 15.5%. United Rentals generated $1.93 billion in free cash flow, which provides the financial flexibility to manage debt obligations, invest in its rental fleet, and return capital to shareholders without relying on external financing. The balance sheet shows a debt level of $15.67 billion against $459.00 million in cash, creating a leverage environment characterized by a debt-to-equity ratio of 174.73%, indicating a highly leveraged capital structure typical for asset-heavy rental businesses. Despite the high leverage, the current ratio stands at 0.94, which suggests that the company's short-term liquid assets are slightly below its current liabilities, requiring careful management of working capital cycles. Return on Equity is 28.4%, while Return on Assets is 8.7%, revealing that the company generates high returns on the shareholders' invested capital relative to its total asset base, demonstrating effective deployment of equity despite the heavy debt load.

밸류에이션 평가

United Rentals trades at a trailing twelve-month P/E ratio of 19.69 and a forward P/E of 14.39, implying that the market expects earnings growth to be strong enough to justify a significant multiple compression or that current earnings are temporarily depressed relative to future potential. The price-to-book ratio is 5.35, indicating that the market values the company at more than five times its book value, which suggests a premium pricing for its intangible assets, brand strength, and competitive moat in the rental sector. Alternative valuation metrics include a price-to-sales ratio of 2.98 and an EV/EBITDA of 14.17, suggesting that the market is willing to pay a premium for revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization given the stability of the rental business model. The stock's 52-week high is $1021.47 and the 52-week low is $533.45, providing a range within which the current market price fluctuates based on broader market sentiment and sector-specific trends. The beta of 1.68 indicates that the stock exhibits price volatility that is significantly higher than the broader market, moving approximately 68% more aggressively than the market index during periods of high volatility.

Growth & Income

Year-over-year revenue growth stands at 2.8%, while earnings growth is -1.9%, indicating that earnings are currently growing slower than revenue, which may reflect margin compression or one-time costs impacting the bottom line. As a dividend payer, United Rentals offers a dividend yield of 1.0% with a payout ratio of 18.5%, suggesting that the dividend is highly sustainable given that the company retains the vast majority of its earnings for reinvestment and debt servicing. The low payout ratio allows the company to maintain dividend coverage even if earnings fluctuate, ensuring that the income provided to shareholders is not at risk of being cut due to temporary earnings dips. Overall, the company presents a profile of steady but moderate revenue expansion with a robust income capability supported by a conservative dividend policy that prioritizes capital allocation over aggressive shareholder payouts.
