회사 개요
Clarus Corporation is engaged in the design, development, manufacture, and distribution of outdoor equipment and lifestyle products across the United States, Australia, China, Austria, and other international markets, operating specifically within the Outdoor and Adventure segments which include apparel and related goods. The company operates within the Consumer Cyclical sector, specifically under the Leisure industry, positioning it as a beneficiary of discretionary spending trends related to recreational activities and outdoor pursuits. With a market capitalization of $105.99M and an annual revenue of $250.44M generated over the trailing twelve months, the firm employs approximately 390 individuals to support its operational footprint. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that Clarus Corporation holds a mid-cap profile, suggesting a smaller market presence compared to large-cap peers while maintaining a significant operational scale within the niche leisure product manufacturing and distribution landscape.
재무 건전성
Clarus Corporation reported a revenue of $250.44M for the trailing twelve months, yet posted a net income of -$46,556,000 and an EBITDA of -$9,696,000, revealing a substantial gap between top-line sales and bottom-line profitability that points to significant cost structure challenges or high operating expenses relative to earnings. Despite the negative net income, the company generated positive free cash flow of $3.79M, which provides a degree of financial flexibility by allowing the firm to fund operations or invest in working capital without relying solely on external financing. The gross margin stands at 33.2%, indicating the company retains a reasonable portion of revenue after direct production costs, whereas the operating margin of -11.1% and profit margin of -18.6% highlight that overhead costs and other expenses are eroding profitability significantly below the gross margin level. On the balance sheet, the company holds $36.69M in cash against $12.29M in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 6.26, which suggests a highly leveraged capital structure where equity is low relative to debt obligations. However, the current ratio of 4.23 indicates strong short-term liquidity, as the company possesses more than four times the current assets necessary to cover its current liabilities. Furthermore, the return on equity is -21.7% and the return on assets is -5.1%, metrics that reveal management is currently unable to generate positive returns on the capital invested or the assets utilized, reflecting the impact of the reported net losses on overall efficiency.
밸류에이션 평가
The valuation metrics present a mixed picture, with a forward P/E ratio of 11.27 listed alongside a trailing P/E ratio marked as N/A due to the negative earnings history, implying that analysts are looking forward to potential earnings stabilization rather than valuing the stock based on current profitability. The price-to-book ratio is recorded at 0.54, indicating that the market values the company at roughly half of its book value, which typically suggests the stock is trading at a discount relative to its net asset value or that the market assigns a low premium to its assets. Additionally, the price-to-sales ratio is 0.42 and the EV/EBITDA is -8.41, suggesting that the market is pricing the company based on revenue multiples rather than earnings multiples due to the lack of profitability, a common scenario for growth-oriented or turnaround companies in the leisure sector. The stock has exhibited a trading range between a 52-week high of $4.03 and a 52-week low of $2.59, with the current market price sitting below the 52-week high but above the 52-week low, reflecting recent volatility within this specific price band. The beta value is 1.15, meaning the stock is expected to be 15% more volatile than the broader market, indicating that the stock price will likely fluctuate with higher intensity than the overall market index during periods of economic or sector-specific turbulence.
Growth & Income
The company experienced a revenue growth rate of -8.4% year-over-year, while earnings growth is marked as N/A due to negative earnings, indicating that the top line is contracting while profitability remains non-existent, which implies a challenging environment for the business model in the current fiscal period. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 3.6% with a payout ratio of 14.7%, a low payout ratio that suggests the current dividend is funded primarily from cash reserves or free cash flow rather than net income, raising questions about sustainability given the negative net income and the leverage-heavy balance sheet. Since the net income is negative, the company technically does not generate retained earnings to reinvest into growth, yet the dividend yield implies a reliance on cash flow generation to maintain shareholder returns rather than traditional earnings reinvestment. Overall, the growth and income profile is characterized by declining revenue, negative earnings, and a dividend yield that must be evaluated cautiously against the backdrop of a leveraged balance sheet and lack of recent earnings growth.
