分析

企業概要

GATX Corporation is a specialized railcar leasing entity that provides tank and freight railcars, as well as locomotives, to customers across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and India. The corporation operates within the Industrials sector, specifically the Rental & Leasing Services industry, which implies a business model focused on asset utilization rather than end-product manufacturing. As of the latest data, the company holds a market capitalization of $6.84B and generated annual revenue of $1.74B while employing 2,371 individuals globally. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that GATX maintains a significant position within the niche rail leasing market, supported by a substantial workforce and a balance sheet capable of funding large-scale asset acquisitions.

財務健全性

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $1.74B with a corresponding net income of $327.80M and an EBITDA of $996.80M, illustrating a significant gap between top-line revenue and bottom-line profit that highlights a heavy cost structure involving operating expenses, interest, and taxes. Despite the negative free cash flow of approximately $4.99B, the entity maintains $743.00M in cash on hand, though this liquidity metric must be viewed against a total debt load of $12.72B. The gross margin stands at 73.8%, reflecting the high value of leased assets relative to direct costs, while the operating margin of 31.0% and profit margin of 19.2% demonstrate effective control over overhead and total expenses. The balance sheet is heavily leveraged, evidenced by a debt-to-equity ratio of 349.83, where total debt vastly exceeds cash reserves. However, the current ratio of 11.03 suggests robust short-term liquidity, indicating the company can easily meet its immediate obligations with available current assets. Management effectiveness is quantified by a return on equity of 11.0% and a return on assets of 2.2%, the latter being lower due to the asset-intensive nature of the leasing business and the high leverage ratio.

バリュエーション評価

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 21.11, while the forward P/E is projected at 17.15, suggesting that the market expects earnings growth that will narrow the valuation multiple over the coming year. The price-to-book ratio of 2.48 indicates that the stock trades at a significant premium over its net asset value, reflecting the quality of the leased assets and the stability of the recurring lease income stream. Alternative valuation metrics, including a price-to-sales ratio of 3.93 and an EV/EBITDA of 19.76, provide context for the valuation relative to sales revenue and operational cash generation before financing costs. In terms of trading range, the stock has a 52-week high of $199.00 and a 52-week low of $139.49, meaning the current market price fluctuates within a band defined by these historical extremes. The beta of 1.23 indicates that the stock exhibits higher volatility than the broader market, reacting more sharply to general market movements and sector-specific economic cycles.

Growth & Income

The company demonstrates a revenue growth rate of 8.6% year-over-year and an earnings growth rate of 25.8% year-over-year, indicating that profitability is expanding at a pace significantly faster than top-line revenue, likely driven by favorable pricing or cost efficiencies. As a dividend payer with a yield of 1.4% and a payout ratio of 26.8%, the company distributes a portion of earnings to shareholders while retaining the majority of profits to support its capital-intensive leasing operations. This payout ratio of 26.8% is considered sustainable given the earnings growth trajectory, allowing the firm to maintain dividend coverage even during periods of lower earnings. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a combination of moderate capital appreciation potential via earnings expansion and steady, albeit modest, income distribution to investors.
