Descripción de la empresa

Element Solutions Inc. operates globally as a specialized provider of chemical technology solutions, serving clients primarily within the electronics and industrial sectors across the United States, China, and other international markets. The enterprise functions within the Basic Materials sector, specifically categorized under the Specialty Chemicals industry, where it delivers essential assembly solutions and tailored chemical products that support manufacturing processes for major technology manufacturers. The company demonstrates significant scale with a market capitalization of $8.13 billion and an annualized revenue of $2.55 billion, supported by a workforce of 5,200 employees distributed across its operational segments. These valuation metrics and revenue figures indicate that the firm holds a substantial position in its niche market, commanding a capitalization that reflects both its established market share and the critical nature of its chemical inputs in high-tech supply chains.

Salud financiera

The financial performance of Element Solutions Inc. is characterized by a trailing twelve-month revenue of $2.55 billion and a net income of $190.80 million, while EBITDA stands at $493.40 million. The substantial gap between the reported net income and EBITDA reveals a significant cost structure impacted by substantial interest expenses and non-operating costs, as evidenced by the total debt load of $1.72 billion against a cash balance of $626.50 million. Despite the lower net income, the company generates robust free cash flow of $335.60 million, which provides the necessary financial flexibility to fund operations, reduce leverage, or pursue strategic initiatives without immediate reliance on external capital markets. Profitability efficiency is further analyzed through three distinct margins: a gross margin of 42.0% indicates strong pricing power and cost control on direct materials, an operating margin of 10.3% reflects the efficiency of overhead management, and a profit margin of 7.5% represents the final return after all expenses. The balance sheet presents a leveraged profile with debt significantly exceeding cash reserves, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 64.06, which suggests a reliance on borrowed capital to finance its asset base. Liquidity is robust, indicated by a current ratio of 3.68, which suggests the company possesses more than three times the current assets required to cover its short-term liabilities. Return metrics show a Return on Equity of 7.5% and a Return on Assets of 4.3%, figures that reveal the effectiveness of management in generating returns relative to the shareholders' equity and the total asset base employed.

Evaluación de valoración

Valuation multiples for Element Solutions Inc. show a trailing P/E ratio of 42.23 compared to a forward P/E of 16.71, a disparity that implies the market currently prices in a significant expected improvement in future earnings trajectory relative to current profitability. The price-to-book ratio of 3.03 indicates that the stock trades at a substantial premium over its book value, suggesting investors are willing to pay significantly more for the company's tangible assets than their accounting value would suggest. Alternative valuation metrics further contextualize the stock's price, with a price-to-sales ratio of 3.19 and an EV/EBITDA of 18.72, which collectively suggest the market values the company's sales and earnings generation at levels higher than many traditional industrial peers. Regarding price momentum, the stock has traded within a 52-week range bounded by a high of $37.74 and a low of $16.77, and depending on the specific trading day, the current price sits somewhere within this volatility band, reflecting recent market sentiment shifts. The stock exhibits a beta of 1.25, which means its price volatility is historically 25% higher than the broader market, indicating that the share price is more sensitive to general market fluctuations than large-cap industrial averages.

Growth & Income

Growth dynamics are mixed, with revenue showing a year-over-year increase of 8.3% while earnings growth contracted by 88.8% over the same period. This divergence indicates that earnings are growing significantly slower than revenue, implying that recent profit margins have been compressed or that one-time charges have materially impacted the bottom line despite top-line expansion. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 1.0% with a payout ratio of 40.5%, a level that suggests the distribution is sustainable given the current earnings generation, though the recent sharp decline in earnings growth warrants monitoring to ensure future coverage remains adequate. The overall growth and income profile reflects a mature specialty chemicals business that prioritizes revenue expansion and balance sheet stability over aggressive earnings leverage, while providing a modest income return to shareholders through a stable but low-yielding dividend program.
