公司概述

IDACORP, Inc. engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, purchase, and sale of electric energy within the United States, utilizing a portfolio that includes hydropower and natural gas-fired plants. The company operates within the Utilities sector, specifically the Regulated Electric industry, which implies a business model characterized by stable cash flows and regulatory oversight over rates. As a mid-to-large-cap entity, IDACORP holds a market capitalization of $8.22 billion and reported annual revenue of $1.81 billion while employing 2,174 individuals. These financial figures indicate that the company maintains a substantial market presence and operational scale within the regulated utility landscape, supporting its extensive infrastructure across southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. The combination of a significant market cap and substantial revenue base reflects a mature business with established operations that serve a defined geographic footprint.

财务健康

The company reported trailing twelve-month revenue of $1.81 billion and net income of $323.47 million, while EBITDA reached $606.39 million. The substantial gap between revenue and net income reveals a cost structure heavily influenced by operating expenses, taxes, and interest costs, which are typical for capital-intensive utility operations. However, the free cash flow stands at -$738,809,472, indicating a period of significant capital expenditure where cash outflows for asset maintenance or expansion exceeded operational cash generation. This negative free cash flow suggests the company is prioritizing infrastructure investment over immediate liquidity preservation, a common strategy in regulated utilities requiring continuous grid modernization. The gross margin of 35.4% indicates the proportion of revenue remaining after direct production costs, while the operating margin of 12.9% and profit margin of 17.8% demonstrate the efficiency of the company's overhead management and overall profitability respectively. On the balance sheet, the company holds $215.72 million in cash against total debt of $3.67 billion, resulting in a high debt-to-equity ratio of 102.56, which characterizes a leveraged balance sheet typical of utility firms that use debt to finance long-term infrastructure assets. The current ratio of 0.93 indicates that current assets slightly fall short of current liabilities, suggesting the company relies on long-term assets or refinancing to meet short-term obligations rather than holding excessive liquid assets. Management effectiveness is further highlighted by a return on equity of 9.4% and a return on assets of 2.2%, metrics that reflect how efficiently the company utilizes shareholder capital and total assets to generate profits within a highly regulated environment.

估值评估

The stock trades at a trailing P/E ratio of 24.82 and a forward P/E of 21.43, implying that the market expects earnings growth to accelerate in the coming year, thereby narrowing the valuation multiple. The price-to-book ratio of 2.28 suggests the market values the company at a significant premium over its book value, likely reflecting the high quality of its regulated assets and stable cash flow generation. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio of 4.54 and the EV/EBITDA of 19.14 provide additional context, indicating that investors are willing to pay a premium for revenue and earnings power relative to sales and operating leverage. Regarding price action, the 52-week high was $148.66 and the 52-week low was $108.15; without the exact current share price, the position within this range cannot be calculated, but the spread indicates potential volatility within the trading band. The beta of 0.54 signifies that the stock exhibits lower price volatility relative to the broader market, behaving more as a defensive holding that moves less dramatically than the overall equity market during periods of economic fluctuation.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year stands at 1.8%, while earnings growth year-over-year is 11.7%, indicating that earnings are expanding at a pace significantly faster than revenue. This divergence implies improved operational efficiency or margin expansion rather than purely top-line volume growth, which is often seen in mature utility businesses optimizing their cost bases. For dividend payers like IDACORP, the dividend yield is 2.4% with a payout ratio of 58.6%, suggesting that the current dividend coverage is robust given the earnings growth rate. The payout ratio of 58.6% indicates a sustainable dividend policy that returns nearly 60% of earnings to shareholders while retaining sufficient capital for operations and capital investments. The overall growth and income profile combines moderate top-line expansion with accelerating earnings and a solid, sustainable dividend yield, offering a balance between capital appreciation potential and income generation within the regulated utility sector.
