公司概述

Darling Ingredients Inc. operates as a developer, producer, and seller of sustainable natural ingredients derived from edible and inedible bio-nutrients, serving markets across North America, Europe, China, South America, and internationally. The company functions within the Consumer Defensive sector, specifically under the Packaged Foods industry, a classification that typically denotes resilience during economic downturns due to the essential nature of food and feed ingredients. This entity employs approximately 15,000 individuals, indicating a significant operational footprint that supports its complex supply chain of collecting and processing animal by-products into non-food grade oils and proteins. With a market capitalization of $9.74 billion and annual revenue reaching $6.14 billion, the company holds a substantial valuation that reflects its established position as a major player in the global bio-nutrient supply chain. These financial metrics suggest that Darling Ingredients commands a significant share of its specific niche, leveraging its scale to manage the logistics of converting by-products into valuable commercial ingredients.

财务健康

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $6.14 billion, accompanied by a net income of $62.80 million and an EBITDA of $915.41 million. The substantial disparity between the $6.14 billion in revenue and the $62.80 million in net income highlights a cost structure where operational expenses, including the costs of raw materials, labor, and processing, consume the majority of gross receipts before reaching the bottom line. Free cash flow for the period amounted to $219.43 million, which provides the organization with financial flexibility to service its obligations or maintain operations without relying exclusively on external financing. Analyzing the profitability margins reveals a gross margin of 24.0%, an operating margin of 8.1%, and a profit margin of 1.0%, indicating that while the company generates significant revenue, a large portion is absorbed by costs to arrive at a modest net profit. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $88.67 million against total debt of $4.16 billion, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 86.53, which characterizes the firm as highly leveraged given the debt significantly outweighs available liquid assets. Current assets relative to current liabilities yield a current ratio of 1.50, suggesting the company maintains adequate short-term liquidity to cover its immediate obligations. Return on equity stands at 1.5% while return on assets is 2.5%, metrics that indicate the current capital allocation efficiency is relatively low, reflecting the high leverage and thin profit margins inherent in the current business cycle.

估值评估

Valuation multiples for Darling Ingredients Inc. show a trailing twelve-month P/E ratio of 157.28 compared to a forward P/E of 14.92, a stark difference that implies the market is pricing in a significant anticipated recovery or expansion in future earnings relative to current depressed profitability levels. The price-to-book ratio is recorded at 2.05, indicating that the market values the company's equity at more than double its book value, suggesting investors place a premium on the brand, intangible assets, or future growth potential despite current earnings constraints. Alternative valuation metrics further illustrate the company's status with a price-to-sales ratio of 1.59 and an EV/EBITDA of 15.16, suggesting that while revenue generation is valued reasonably, the high enterprise value relative to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization points to the market's anticipation of future margin improvements. The stock's 52-week trading range spans from a low of $26.00 to a high of $64.69, providing context for the current price action within the context of its recent volatility. The beta value of 1.08 indicates that the stock's price volatility is slightly higher than the broader market, meaning it tends to move with greater magnitude than the S&P 500 during periods of market fluctuation.

Growth & Income

Growth dynamics for Darling Ingredients Inc. reveal a year-over-year revenue growth of 20.6% contrasted with a year-over-year earnings growth of -44.6%. This divergence indicates that while top-line sales are expanding rapidly, earnings are contracting at a much faster rate, likely due to rising input costs, volume changes, or one-time charges that disproportionately impact the bottom line compared to revenue. The company does not pay a dividend, evidenced by a dividend yield of N/A and a payout ratio of 0.0%, which means the entity reinvests all of its earnings back into the business rather than distributing cash to shareholders. This retention of earnings is consistent with a capital-intensive industry where funds are required to maintain processing facilities and supply chains, rather than providing immediate income to investors. Consequently, the overall profile presents a high-growth revenue environment coupled with negative earnings growth and no current income distribution, reflecting a strategy focused on operational scaling and cost management rather than shareholder yield.
