企業概要
MidCap Financial Investment Corporation, formerly known as Apollo Investment Corporation, functions as a business development company and operates as a closed-end, externally managed, non-diversified management investment company elected to be treated as a business development company under the Investment Company Act. The company is situated within the Financial Services sector, specifically the Asset Management industry, which implies it focuses on managing capital for external clients or generating returns through direct lending and equity investments in private companies. Its scale is defined by a market capitalization of $1.08B and annual revenue reaching $320.88M, though the specific employee count is not disclosed in available records. These valuation metrics and revenue figures indicate that the entity operates with a substantial asset base, positioning it as a significant player in the specialized asset management landscape despite the lack of diversified public holdings typical of broader financial institutions.
財務健全性
The company reported revenue of $320.88M over the trailing twelve months, generating net income of $63.17M, while EBITDA figures are not available for direct comparison. The substantial gap between the total revenue of $320.88M and the net income of $63.17M reveals a high-cost structure where operating expenses consume approximately 80.3% of top-line revenue, which is characteristic of asset management firms with significant management fee and investment activity costs. Free cash flow stands at $131.15M, indicating that the company generates significant liquidity after capital expenditures, providing financial flexibility to manage obligations or return capital. Profitability is highlighted by a gross margin of 100.0%, an operating margin of 85.5%, and a profit margin of 19.7%, where the 100% gross margin confirms the absence of cost of goods sold in its revenue model and the 19.7% profit margin reflects the final earnings relative to total sales. Liquidity and leverage are critical factors, with total cash holdings of $99.45M contrasted against total debt of $2.00B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 152.62 that suggests a highly leveraged balance sheet rather than a conservative one. Short-term liquidity is constrained by a current ratio of 0.92, indicating that current assets fall slightly short of covering current liabilities without relying on new financing. Management effectiveness is measured by a return on equity of 4.7% and a return on assets of 5.2%, metrics that provide insight into the efficiency with which management utilizes shareholder capital and total assets to generate profits.
バリュエーション評価
The trailing twelve-month price-to-earnings ratio is 17.09, while the forward P/E is 8.99, implying that the market expects a significant increase in earnings per share in the future to justify the lower forward multiple. The price-to-book ratio stands at 0.82, suggesting that the stock is currently trading at a discount to its net asset value rather than commanding a market premium over book value. Alternative valuation metrics include a price-to-sales ratio of 3.38 and an EV/EBITDA multiple that is not available for calculation, which together suggest the market is pricing the asset based on revenue generation potential due to the lack of EBITDA data. The stock has experienced volatility within a 52-week trading range bounded by a high of $13.51 and a low of $9.48, meaning the current price sits between these extremes but specifically trades below the recent peak established at $13.51. The beta value of 0.71 indicates that the stock's price volatility is lower than that of the broader market, as a beta less than 1.0 implies it tends to move less aggressively than the overall market index.
Growth & Income
Revenue growth year-over-year declined by 4.6%, while earnings growth year-over-year is not available for calculation, preventing a direct comparison of whether earnings are growing faster or slower than revenue at this specific moment. For investors relying on income, the dividend yield is 10.7%, supported by a payout ratio of 223.5%, which indicates that the company is distributing a portion of earnings that exceeds its current net income, a structure common for closed-end funds but one that requires scrutiny regarding sustainability given the high payout relative to reported profits. Since specific data on reinvestment into growth is not explicitly detailed beyond the general business model, the focus remains on the high yield provided to shareholders. The overall growth and income profile is characterized by a declining revenue trajectory and a high, potentially unsustainable payout ratio that compensates for the lack of available earnings growth data.
