企業概要
La-Z-Boy Incorporated is a prominent manufacturer and distributor of upholstered furniture products that operates across the United States, Canada, and international markets through distinct wholesale and retail segments. The company is categorized within the Consumer Cyclical sector and specifically functions in the Furnishings, Fixtures & Appliances industry, positioning it as an entity whose performance is intrinsically linked to broader discretionary spending patterns and housing market dynamics. With a market capitalization of $1.37B and an annual revenue of $2.13B, the firm employs a workforce of 10,600 individuals to execute its operational strategy. These financial metrics indicate that while the company maintains a substantial operational footprint, its market valuation reflects a mid-cap profile rather than the dominance of a mega-cap utility or technology firm, suggesting a specific exposure to niche consumer demand cycles.
財務健全性
La-Z-Boy Incorporated reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $2.13B, accompanied by a net income of $83.64M and an EBITDA of $186.86M. The significant disparity between the revenue figure and the net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and administrative costs, consume approximately 60.5% of total sales before interest and taxes. The company generated free cash flow of $194.68M, which provides a critical buffer for financial flexibility, enabling the management to service debt obligations or return capital to shareholders without relying on external financing. Analyzing the margin profile, the gross margin stands at 43.6%, indicating strong pricing power or efficient supply chain management at the production level; however, the operating margin is notably lower at 5.4%, and the profit margin is 3.9%, highlighting the substantial impact of overhead costs and operating leverage on the bottom line. Regarding liquidity and solvency, the company holds $308.90M in cash against total debt of $568.47M, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 53.88, which suggests a balance sheet that is moderately leveraged rather than highly conservative. The current ratio of 1.66 indicates that the firm possesses $1.66 in current assets for every $1.00 of current liabilities, signaling adequate short-term liquidity to meet immediate obligations. Finally, the return on equity is 8.1% while the return on assets is 4.3%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in utilizing shareholder capital and total assets to generate profits, respectively, with the gap between ROE and ROA reflecting the level of financial leverage employed.
バリュエーション評価
The valuation metrics show a trailing P/E ratio of 16.61 compared to a forward P/E of 11.16, implying that the market anticipates a significant recovery or acceleration in earnings growth in the coming periods to justify the lower future multiple. The price-to-book ratio is 1.30, indicating that the stock trades at a 30% premium over its book value, which may reflect investor confidence in the brand's intangible assets or future growth potential beyond its net asset base. Alternative valuation measures include a price-to-sales ratio of 0.64 and an EV/EBITDA of 8.73, suggesting that the market values the company at less than one dollar of revenue per dollar of sales, which is relatively low for a consumer staples-adjacent business, while the EV/EBITDA implies a reasonable cost of capital relative to cash flows. The stock has traded between a 52-week high of $44.49 and a 52-week low of $29.03, and without the current real-time price, the valuation context is framed by this historical volatility range which spans a total difference of $15.46. The beta value is 1.29, meaning the stock is expected to exhibit 29% higher price volatility than the broader market, making it more sensitive to systemic risk factors and economic downturns than a beta of 1.0.
Growth & Income
Revenue growth year-over-year is recorded at 3.8%, whereas earnings growth year-over-year is -23.5%, indicating that earnings are currently shrinking at a much faster rate than revenue, which points to potential margin compression, one-time costs, or a decline in profitability efficiency despite stable top-line sales. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 2.9% with a payout ratio of 45.1%, suggesting that the dividend is currently sustainable as it covers less than half of the net income, providing a cushion should earnings fluctuate in the future. The divergence between positive revenue growth and negative earnings growth, combined with a sustainable payout ratio, defines an income profile that offers yield but currently lacks earnings expansion momentum. Overall, the growth and income profile presents a scenario of a mature business maintaining shareholder returns through a modest yield while navigating a period of earnings contraction relative to sales.
