企業概要
Fuel Tech, Inc. is engaged in the development, commercialization, and application of technologies designed for air pollution control, process optimization, water treatment, and advanced engineering services, serving utility and industrial clients across the United States, the rest of the Americas, Europe, and South Africa. The company operates within the Industrials sector, specifically the Pollution & Treatment Controls industry, which reflects its focus on environmental compliance and industrial efficiency solutions. As of the latest data, the entity holds a market capitalization of $39.92M and generates annual revenue of $26.68M while employing 77 staff members. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that Fuel Tech, Inc. is a mid-cap enterprise with a specialized operational footprint, positioning it as a niche player rather than a large-scale diversified industrial conglomerate.
財務健全性
The company reported a revenue of $26.68M over the trailing twelve months, yet recorded a net income of $-2,324,000 and an EBITDA of $-2,982,000, revealing a significant operational deficit where costs and expenses substantially exceeded gross profits. Despite the negative net income, the company maintains a positive free cash flow of $2.32M, which suggests a degree of financial flexibility derived from strong cash collection or capital expenditure management that offsets operational losses. The gross margin stands at 46.4%, indicating that the company retains a substantial portion of revenue after direct production costs, whereas the operating margin of -19.7% and profit margin of -8.7% highlight severe inefficiencies or high overhead costs eroding the bottom line. On the balance sheet, Fuel Tech, Inc. holds $24.88M in cash against only $580,000 in debt, creating a highly conservative liquidity profile that is not leveraged in the traditional sense. This conservative stance is further supported by a current ratio of 5.09, which signals robust short-term liquidity and the ability to meet obligations without immediate distress. However, the return on equity is -5.7% and the return on assets is -4.8%, metrics that indicate that management has not yet generated positive returns on the capital deployed, reflecting the current phase of development or expansion rather than mature profitability.
バリュエーション評価
The valuation metrics present a complex picture due to the lack of positive earnings, with a trailing P/E ratio listed as N/A and a forward P/E of -26.00, implying that the market is pricing the stock based on future earnings expectations rather than current profitability. The price-to-book ratio is 1.01, suggesting that the market values the company's equity at roughly book value without a significant premium, while the negative EV/EBITDA of -5.24 further underscores the earnings-driven valuation challenges typical of growth-stage industrial firms. Alternative valuation multiples such as the price-to-sales ratio of 1.50 provide a clearer view of the company's market worth relative to its top-line growth, indicating investors are willing to pay for revenue expansion. Historically, the stock has traded between a 52-week high of $3.65 and a 52-week low of $0.92, meaning the current price position fluctuates within this established range depending on market sentiment. With a beta of 1.12, the stock exhibits higher price volatility relative to the broader market, suggesting that its price movements are amplified compared to large-cap industrial peers during periods of market fluctuation.
Growth & Income
Fuel Tech, Inc. demonstrated a revenue growth of 37.2% year-over-year, while earnings growth is N/A due to the absence of positive net income, implying that top-line expansion is currently outpacing profitability as the company scales its operations. The company does not pay dividends, evidenced by a dividend yield of N/A and a payout ratio of 0.0%, indicating that all available earnings and cash flows are retained within the business to fund research, development, and market expansion rather than being distributed to shareholders. This reinvestment strategy is consistent with the negative return metrics and the need to capitalize on the 37.2% revenue surge to eventually achieve sustainable profitability. Overall, the growth and income profile of Fuel Tech, Inc. is characterized by rapid top-line expansion funded by retained cash, with no current income distribution, reflecting a strategic focus on long-term industrial technology adoption and market penetration.
