企業概要
Canadian Solar Inc. engages in the provision of solar energy and battery energy storage products alongside comprehensive solutions across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and international markets. The corporation operates primarily within the Technology sector, specifically specializing in the Solar industry, which positions it as a key player in the renewable energy infrastructure landscape. This entity currently maintains a market capitalization of $824.43M and generates an annual revenue of $5.60B based on trailing twelve-month data. Although specific employee count data is not publicly disclosed in the available records, the revenue scale of $5.60B indicates a significant operational footprint within the global solar supply chain. These valuation and revenue metrics collectively suggest that the company holds a substantial position in the competitive technology market, balancing its manufacturing and distribution activities with a global reach that spans multiple continents.
財務健全性
The company reported a total revenue of $5.60B for the trailing twelve months, accompanied by a net income of -$104,126,000 and an EBITDA of $598.21M. The substantial gap between positive revenue and negative net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, likely driven by manufacturing costs or regional regulatory expenditures, significantly erode pre-tax profits before interest and taxes are considered. Furthermore, the free cash flow stands at -$1,366,950,272, indicating a current outflow of capital that suggests limited financial flexibility for discretionary spending or acquisitions in the short term. Profitability is further segmented by three key margins: a gross margin of 18.3%, an operating margin of -5.3%, and a profit margin of -1.9%, which collectively indicate that while the core product sales retain a reasonable portion of value, overhead costs are consuming the majority of gross profits. On the liability side, the company holds $1.37B in cash against $6.74B in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 157.86% that characterizes a highly leveraged balance sheet rather than a conservative one. Liquidity position is assessed via a current ratio of 1.02, suggesting that current assets barely cover current liabilities, implying a tight operational liquidity environment with minimal buffer against short-term obligations. Additionally, the return on equity is recorded at -4.4% while the return on assets is 0.2%, metrics that reveal management's current challenge in generating positive shareholder returns or efficient asset utilization given the prevailing leverage and loss-making status.
バリュエーション評価
Valuation metrics present a complex picture with a trailing P/E ratio that is effectively negative due to the losses, contrasted by a forward P/E of 10.35 which implies market expectations for future earnings normalization or profitability improvement. The price-to-book ratio is recorded at 0.30, indicating that the market values the company at significantly less than its book value, a common scenario for capital-intensive firms facing temporary earnings pressure. Alternative valuation measures such as a price-to-sales ratio of 0.15 and an EV/EBITDA of 12.81 provide context on the company's relative valuation against peers, suggesting the market is pricing in significant risk regarding future cash flow generation. Price volatility is evident from the 52-week high of $34.59 and the 52-week low of $6.57, placing the current trading environment within a range that reflects a high degree of sentiment-driven fluctuation. The stock exhibits a beta of 1.38, meaning its price volatility is substantially higher than the broader market, exposing investors to greater swings in value relative to general market movements.
Growth & Income
Revenue growth for the trailing twelve months is recorded at -20.0%, while earnings growth is not applicable due to the negative net income position. The decline in revenue combined with negative earnings indicates that the company is not currently expanding its top line effectively enough to cover its operational costs, resulting in a contraction phase rather than growth. As the company does not pay a dividend, evidenced by a dividend yield of N/A and a payout ratio of 0.0%, it follows a strategy of retaining capital rather than distributing income to shareholders. Consequently, the overall growth and income profile is characterized by revenue contraction and a lack of current income generation, forcing the company to rely on existing cash reserves or external financing to fund operations and potentially pursue future expansion strategies.
