Panoramica dell'azienda

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. operates within the power and utility sectors, managing a diverse portfolio that includes regulated electric generation, water distribution, wastewater collection, and natural gas utility systems. The company functions in the Utilities - Diversified industry, providing essential infrastructure services to consumers and businesses while adhering to regulatory frameworks that govern its operations. With a market capitalization of $4.88B and annual revenue reaching $2.43B, the entity manages a substantial operational footprint supported by a workforce of 3233 employees. These valuation and revenue figures indicate a significant presence in the utility market, positioning the company as a major player capable of sustaining large-scale infrastructure projects and regulatory compliance across its diversified asset base.

Salute finanziaria

The financial statements reveal a total revenue of $2.43B and a net income of $208.00M, while EBITDA stands at $919.70M. The substantial gap between the $2.43B revenue and the $208.00M net income highlights a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and overhead, consume approximately 92.6% of total revenue before interest and taxes. The free cash flow is recorded at $-451,737,504, which suggests a current lack of financial flexibility as the company is burning cash rather than generating it for reinvestment or shareholder returns. Despite the negative cash flow, the company holds $32.70M in cash against a total debt load of $6.56B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 129.95. This balance sheet structure is highly leveraged, indicating that the company relies significantly on borrowed capital to fund its operations and asset acquisitions. The current ratio is 1.00, which indicates that the company's short-term assets exactly match its short-term liabilities, presenting a neutral liquidity position without a significant buffer. Return on Equity stands at 2.6% and Return on Assets is 2.1%, metrics that reveal limited management effectiveness in generating substantial returns relative to the capital invested and the asset base employed.

Valutazione del valore

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 23.41, while the forward P/E is projected at 15.58. The difference between the trailing P/E of 23.41 and the forward P/E of 15.58 implies that the market expects a significant decline in earnings per share or a re-rating of the stock price in the coming periods. The price-to-book ratio is 1.09, which indicates that the market values the company at slightly more than its tangible book value, suggesting a modest premium over the net asset value. The price-to-sales ratio is 2.01, and the EV/EBITDA multiple is 13.02; these alternative metrics suggest that investors are pricing the company based on its revenue generation and operational cash flow potential rather than just current earnings. The 52-week trading range spans from a low of $4.45 to a high of $7.11, providing a context for the current price volatility within the utility sector. The beta value is 0.89, which means the stock exhibits price volatility that is lower than the broader market, making it relatively less sensitive to general market swings.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year and earnings growth year-over-year are both listed as N/A, indicating that specific growth rate data is not currently available for calculation in the provided dataset. Without explicit growth rates to compare, it is impossible to determine if earnings are growing faster or slower than revenue based on the available facts. For dividend payers like this entity, the dividend yield is 4.1%, supported by a payout ratio of 96.3%. A payout ratio of 96.3% is generally not considered sustainable given the company's negative free cash flow and the high debt-to-equity ratio of 129.95, as distributing nearly all earnings while burning cash creates significant financial risk. Since the growth metrics are unavailable (N/A), the analysis focuses on the income profile where the high dividend yield compensates for the lack of visible growth and the leveraged balance sheet. The overall growth and income profile is characterized by a high current yield that must be weighed against the absence of reported growth figures and the company's constrained cash generation capabilities.
