Présentation de l'entreprise

Gladstone Land Corporation operates as a publicly traded real estate investment trust focused on the acquisition and ownership of farmland and farm-related properties situated within major agricultural markets across the United States. The entity functions within the Real Estate sector and specifically within the REIT - Specialty industry, a classification that dictates its requirement to distribute a significant portion of taxable income to shareholders while maintaining specific asset ownership structures. Although the market capitalization is not disclosed in the available data, the company generates an annual revenue of $88.31 million based on trailing twelve-month figures, employing a workforce count that is currently not publicly reported. These financial metrics provide context for the company's operational scale, indicating a substantial footprint comprising approximately 103,000 acres of land located in 15 different states, alongside a portfolio of 150 distinct farms and over 55 additional properties.

Santé financière

The company reports a trailing twelve-month revenue of $88.31 million, yet it recorded a net income loss of $10,484,000 during the same period, while generating an EBITDA of $70.29 million. The significant disparity between the positive EBITDA and the negative net income reveals a cost structure heavily impacted by non-operating expenses, interest obligations, or tax liabilities that erode bottom-line profitability despite strong core earnings power. Free cash flow stands at $50.40 million, which suggests that the company maintains substantial liquidity for operational needs and capital allocation independent of financing activities. This robust cash generation provides a buffer for the entity to manage its obligations, particularly given that total cash on hand amounts to $16.36 million against a total debt load of $541.38 million. The balance sheet appears highly leveraged, evidenced by a debt-to-equity ratio of 81.81, which indicates that debt financing constitutes a major portion of the company's capitalization strategy. Short-term liquidity is supported by a current ratio of 1.35, implying that the company holds sufficient current assets to cover its current liabilities without immediate distress. Return on equity stands at 2.0% and return on assets is recorded at 1.2%, metrics that indicate the current level of capital efficiency and management effectiveness in generating returns relative to the equity invested and total assets employed.

Évaluation de la valorisation

Valuation multiples for the trailing twelve-month period and forward period are not available in the provided data, preventing a direct comparison of expected earnings trajectories based on price-to-earnings ratios. However, the price-to-book ratio is recorded at 1.12, which indicates that the market values the company slightly above its net asset book value, suggesting a modest premium for its intangible assets and location quality. Alternative valuation metrics such as the price-to-sales ratio are not disclosed, but the enterprise value-to-EBITDA stands at 19.15, offering a perspective on the company's value relative to its operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. Regarding price volatility, the 52-week high is recorded at $20.79 and the 52-week low at $18.21, providing a trading range within which the stock has fluctuated over the past year. The beta value is 1.23, indicating that the stock price exhibits higher volatility relative to the broader market, moving with greater sensitivity to systemic market shifts.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year has accelerated significantly to 96.5%, while earnings growth is not applicable due to the negative net income position in the trailing twelve months. The absence of reported earnings growth alongside high revenue growth implies that the company is in a phase of expansion where top-line growth is outpacing bottom-line profitability, likely due to the aforementioned leverage and non-operating costs. As a dividend-paying entity, the company offers a dividend yield of 7.6%, though the payout ratio is not available for calculation. The sustainability of such a high dividend yield must be evaluated carefully given the negative net income, as dividends paid from cash flow rather than net income can be a double-edged sword regarding financial resilience. The overall growth and income profile presents a high-yield opportunity coupled with significant revenue expansion, balanced against a leveraged balance sheet and current lack of net income.
