公司概述

WEC Energy Group, Inc. operates as a provider of regulated natural gas and electricity services alongside renewable and non-regulated renewable energy solutions across the United States. The company functions within the Utilities sector, specifically the Regulated Electric industry, which typically implies stable cash flows derived from regulated rate bases subject to government oversight. This entity employs a workforce of 7,151 individuals and maintains a market capitalization of $38.20 billion with an annual revenue of $9.80 billion. These financial dimensions indicate that WEC Energy Group is a significant player in the utility landscape, possessing substantial scale that allows for diversified operations across Wisconsin, Illinois, and other states.

财务健康

The company reported total revenue of $9.80 billion and net income of $1.56 billion, with EBITDA reaching $3.87 billion, highlighting a substantial gap between top-line revenue and bottom-line earnings that reflects high operational costs inherent in the regulated utility business. Free cash flow stands at -$2.14 billion, a negative figure that suggests the company is currently investing heavily in capital expenditures or facing temporary working capital pressures that constrain immediate financial flexibility. Gross margin is recorded at 42.4%, while operating margin sits at 21.3% and profit margin at 15.9%, collectively indicating that the company retains a moderate portion of revenue after covering both direct operational costs and overhead expenses. The balance sheet shows $27.60 million in cash against $22.39 billion in debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 159.33%, which characterizes a highly leveraged capital structure typical for capital-intensive utility firms. The current ratio of 0.59 indicates that current assets are less than half of current liabilities, pointing to a tight short-term liquidity position that relies on long-term financing schedules. Return on equity is 11.6% and return on assets is 3.0%, metrics that reveal how efficiently management generates returns relative to shareholder equity and total asset base, respectively.

估值评估

The trailing twelve-month P/E ratio is 24.33, whereas the forward P/E is 19.52, implying that the market expects earnings to grow in the future to justify the lower forward multiple. The price-to-book ratio is 2.80, suggesting that the market values the company at a significant premium over its net asset book value, often reflecting the value of intangible assets or growth prospects in renewable energy. Price-to-sales stands at 3.90 and EV/EBITDA is 15.77, providing alternative perspectives that suggest the stock is priced in line with industry peers for regulated utilities. The 52-week high is $118.53 and the 52-week low is $100.61, meaning the current trading price sits within this established range, specifically trading below the peak but above the recent trough. The beta is 0.53, indicating that the stock exhibits lower price volatility than the broader market, a characteristic common for utility stocks that serve as defensive holdings.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year is 11.1%, while earnings growth year-over-year is -32.5%, demonstrating that earnings are contracting significantly faster than revenue, likely due to one-time charges or margin compression affecting profitability. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 3.2% with a payout ratio of 74.2%, a level that requires careful monitoring given the recent negative earnings growth to ensure dividend sustainability. The current negative free cash flow and declining earnings suggest that the payout ratio may be under pressure, as the company generates less distributable cash than it distributes to shareholders. Overall, the company presents a profile of stable revenue growth in a regulated environment but faces headwinds in earnings expansion while maintaining a commitment to shareholder returns through dividends.
