Bedrijfsoverzicht

Alamo Group Inc. is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial machinery and vegetation management equipment designed for governmental, industrial, and agricultural applications across the global market. The corporation operates within the Industrials sector, specifically within the Farm & Heavy Construction Machinery industry, positioning it as a provider of essential capital goods for heavy-duty operational environments. This entity employs approximately 3,800 people and holds a market capitalization of $2.15B, while generating annual revenue (TTM) of $1.60B. These financial dimensions indicate that the company maintains a mid-cap status with a substantial operational footprint, allowing it to serve diverse client needs ranging from municipal land management to large-scale agricultural operations.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported a revenue (TTM) of $1.60B and a net income (TTM) of $103.80M, with an EBITDA of $206.98M, highlighting a significant gap between top-line revenue and bottom-line earnings that reflects the substantial cost structure inherent in manufacturing and selling heavy equipment. Alamo Group generates a free cash flow of $119.24M, which provides the organization with considerable financial flexibility to fund operations, service debt obligations, or pursue strategic initiatives without immediate reliance on external financing. The gross margin stands at 24.8%, indicating the portion of revenue remaining after direct production costs, while the operating margin is 6.0% and the profit margin is 6.5%, suggesting that operating expenses and other costs consume a significant portion of the gross profit before reaching the final net income. In terms of liquidity and solvency, the company holds $309.66M in cash against $220.29M in debt, supported by a debt-to-equity ratio of 19.18, which suggests a relatively conservative balance sheet structure where equity significantly outweighs debt liabilities. The current ratio of 4.57 further underscores strong short-term liquidity, demonstrating that the company possesses more than four times the current assets necessary to cover its current liabilities. Additionally, the return on equity is 9.6% and the return on assets is 6.2%, metrics that reveal how effectively management utilizes shareholder capital and total assets to generate profits within the capital-intensive heavy machinery sector.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

Valuation metrics for Alamo Group Inc. show a P/E Ratio (TTM) of 20.57 and a Forward P/E of 14.88, where the disparity between these two figures implies that the market expects a notable improvement in earnings per share in the coming periods compared to historical performance. The price-to-book ratio is 1.85, indicating that the stock trades at a premium of 85% over its net asset value, reflecting market confidence in the company's intangible assets, brand strength, or future growth potential beyond its book value. Alternative valuation measures include a price-to-sales ratio of 1.34 and an EV/EBITDA of 9.93, which suggest the company is priced relative to its sales efficiency and operational earnings power, offering a different perspective on value than the P/E multiple alone. Regarding price action, the 52-week high is $233.29 and the 52-week low is $156.30, meaning the current trading price sits within this established range and has experienced significant volatility over the last year. The beta value is 1.20, which indicates that the stock's price volatility is 20% higher than the broader market, suggesting that ALG tends to amplify market movements and carries higher systematic risk than a beta-neutral benchmark.

Growth & Income

Recent financial performance data shows a revenue growth (YoY) of -3.0% and an earnings growth (YoY) of -45.0%, illustrating that earnings are contracting at a much faster rate than revenue, a divergence often seen in cyclical industries facing margin compression or volume challenges. The company offers a dividend yield of 0.7% with a payout ratio of 14.0%, a low payout ratio that suggests the company retains the majority of its earnings rather than distributing them fully to shareholders. Given the low payout ratio and the context of declining earnings growth, the current dividend appears sustainable as it is paid from a small fraction of net income, leaving ample retained earnings for operational reinvestment. The overall growth and income profile characterizes Alamo Group as a stock currently in a contractionary phase with modest income distribution, where investors must weigh the low dividend return against the significant year-over-year decline in profitability and top-line sales.
