कंपनी का अवलोकन

Black Hills Corporation operates as a regulated utility entity within the United States, providing essential electric and natural gas services through its dedicated subsidiaries. This organization functions within the Utilities sector, specifically categorized under the Regulated Gas industry, which implies a business model heavily influenced by government oversight and regulated rate structures. The company demonstrates a significant market footprint with a market capitalization of $5.63B and an annual revenue (TTM) of $2.31B, supported by an workforce of 2795 employees. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that Black Hills Corporation holds a substantial position in the regional energy landscape, serving a large customer base with a capitalization that reflects established market confidence in its regulated asset base.

वित्तीय स्वास्थ्य

The financial performance of Black Hills Corporation is characterized by a revenue (TTM) of $2.31B generating a net income (TTM) of $291.60M and an EBITDA of $816.50M. The substantial gap between the total revenue of $2.31B and the net income of $291.60M reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including cost of goods sold and administrative costs, consume a significant portion of top-line earnings before arriving at the bottom line. However, the EBITDA figure of $816.50M highlights the operational cash generation potential before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, serving as a key metric for assessing the company's ability to service debt and fund capital expenditures. In terms of liquidity, the company reports a free cash flow of $-279,312,512, indicating a period of negative cash generation which suggests that capital outflows for investments or maintenance exceed operating cash inflows, thereby impacting immediate financial flexibility. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $182.80M against total debt of $4.70B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 120.36, which points to a highly leveraged financial structure typical of capital-intensive utility infrastructure. Short-term liquidity is supported by a current ratio of 1.35, suggesting the company possesses sufficient current assets to cover its current liabilities, though the margin is relatively narrow. Management effectiveness is reflected in a return on equity (ROE) of 8.0% and a return on assets (ROA) of 3.2%, metrics that indicate the efficiency with which shareholder equity and total assets are utilized to generate profits within a low-margin utility environment.

मूल्यांकन आकलन

Valuation metrics for Black Hills Corporation show a trailing P/E ratio (TTM) of 18.60 and a forward P/E of 16.01. The difference between the trailing P/E of 18.60 and the forward P/E of 16.01 implies that the market expects earnings growth in the future, as investors are willing to pay a lower multiple for anticipated future earnings relative to current earnings. The price-to-book ratio stands at 1.46, indicating that the market values the company at a premium of 46% over its tangible book value, reflecting the value of its regulated utility assets and franchise rights. Alternative valuation perspectives are provided by the price-to-sales ratio of 2.44 and an EV/EBITDA of 12.48, which suggest the company is valued at a moderate multiple relative to its sales and enterprise value earnings power. Regarding price momentum, the stock has traded between a 52-week high of $75.87 and a 52-week low of $54.92, providing a historical range context for current trading levels. The beta value of 0.71 indicates that the stock's price volatility is significantly lower than the broader market, behaving more like a defensive asset that moves less aggressively during market fluctuations.

Growth & Income

The growth trajectory of Black Hills Corporation is defined by a revenue growth (YoY) of 6.4% and an earnings growth (YoY) of 0.9%. The fact that earnings growth of 0.9% is growing slower than revenue growth of 6.4% implies that the company is expanding its top line faster than it can convert those revenues into net profits, potentially due to rising operational costs or regulatory constraints on pricing. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 3.8% with a payout ratio of 67.9%, which indicates that the majority of net income is distributed to shareholders, leaving a significant portion for reinvestment or debt servicing. The payout ratio of 67.9% is relatively high relative to the earnings growth of 0.9%, suggesting that maintaining this dividend level requires careful management of cash flows and capital allocation to ensure sustainability. Overall, the company presents a profile of steady revenue expansion supported by a consistent dividend yield, though the slower earnings growth and negative free cash flow present considerations for capital preservation and long-term payout capacity.
