Análisis

Descripción de la empresa

Curtiss-Wright Corporation operates globally by delivering engineered products, solutions, and services primarily to the aerospace, defense, commercial nuclear power, process, and industrial sectors. The company is situated within the Industrials sector and specifically functions in the Aerospace & Defense industry, a classification that reflects its exposure to capital-intensive manufacturing and cyclical demand driven by global infrastructure and security requirements. Curtiss-Wright holds a market capitalization of $24.49 billion and generates annual revenue of $3.50 billion across its operations. With an employed workforce of 9,100 individuals, the company demonstrates significant operational scale, positioning it as a substantial entity within the industrial landscape. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company commands a premium market presence, suggesting deep market penetration and a robust position within its specialized niche of high-performance engineered components.

Salud financiera

The company reported revenue of $3.50 billion, net income of $484.23 million, and EBITDA of $796.36 million for the trailing twelve months. The substantial gap between the $3.50 billion revenue figure and the $484.23 million net income reveals a cost structure where expenses, including cost of goods sold and operating overhead, consume approximately 86.2% of top-line sales before interest and taxes are considered. Free cash flow stands at $465.74 million, which indicates strong financial flexibility allowing the entity to fund capital expenditures, reduce leverage, or pursue strategic acquisitions without immediate external financing. Gross margin is recorded at 37.2%, operating margin at 20.3%, and profit margin at 13.8%, collectively demonstrating the company's ability to maintain healthy profitability despite the inherent cost pressures of the aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. On the balance sheet, cash resources of $371.34 million are compared against total debt of $1.17 billion, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 46.10%, which suggests a leveraged capital structure typical for industrial firms but requiring careful management of interest expenses. The current ratio of 1.44 signals that the company maintains adequate short-term liquidity, possessing current assets sufficient to cover its short-term obligations with a comfortable margin of safety. Return on equity is 19.4% and return on assets is 8.2%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in generating returns on shareholder capital and utilizing the total asset base to produce earnings.

Evaluación de valoración

Curtiss-Wright trades with a trailing twelve-month P/E ratio of 51.56 and a forward P/E ratio of 39.77. The notable difference between these two metrics implies that the market expects a significant upward revision in earnings in the coming years, as the forward multiple is substantially lower than the trailing multiple, reflecting anticipated growth. The price-to-book ratio is 9.65, indicating that the market values the company at a significant premium over its net tangible book value, a common characteristic for firms holding valuable intangible assets or possessing strong competitive moats in specialized manufacturing. Alternative valuation metrics show a price-to-sales ratio of 7.00 and an EV/EBITDA of 31.72, suggesting that investors are pricing the stock based on high growth expectations rather than current asset replacement costs or low-leverage stability. Regarding price momentum, the stock reached a 52-week high of $730.12 and a 52-week low of $266.88, providing a wide trading range that highlights the volatility inherent in the aerospace and defense sector over the past year. The beta value of 0.91 indicates that the stock's price volatility is slightly less than the broader market, suggesting a slight defensive characteristic relative to the overall industrial sector index.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth for the trailing twelve months is 14.9% while earnings growth is 19.6%, indicating that earnings are expanding at a faster rate than revenue, which implies improved operational leverage or margin expansion as the company scales. The company currently has a dividend yield of 0.1% and a payout ratio of 7.2%, a very conservative distribution policy that ensures the dividend is highly sustainable given the robust earnings growth trajectory. With such a low payout ratio, the company effectively reinvests the vast majority of its earnings into research, development, and capacity expansion rather than distributing cash to shareholders. The overall profile combines moderate income generation through a minimal dividend with strong capital appreciation potential driven by double-digit revenue and earnings growth rates.
