公司概述
Safety Insurance Group, Inc. operates primarily within the financial services sector, specifically focusing on the insurance property and casualty industry. The company's core business involves providing private passenger and commercial automobile insurance, as well as homeowner insurance policies within the state of Massachusetts and across the United States. These insurance products offer essential coverage for bodily injury and property damage to others, along with no-fault personal injury protection for private passenger vehicles. The organization currently employs 568 individuals to support its underwriting and operational functions. As of the latest data, Safety Insurance Group, Inc. holds a market capitalization of $1.10B and reports an annual revenue of $1.26B over the trailing twelve months. These financial figures position the entity as a mid-sized player in the regional insurance landscape, reflecting a stable operational scale that supports its specific geographic footprint in Massachusetts.
财务健康
Over the trailing twelve months, the company generated $1.26B in revenue while recording a net income of $99.71M and an EBITDA of $134.99M. The significant gap between the $1.26B revenue and the $99.71M net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, including underwriting costs and claims adjustments, absorb approximately 92% of top-line revenue before reaching the bottom line. The company produced $204.97M in free cash flow, which indicates a robust ability to generate liquidity from its operations beyond the needs of capital expenditures. This strong cash generation provides the company with substantial financial flexibility to manage claim liabilities, invest in technology, or return capital to shareholders without relying on external financing. The gross margin stands at 10.8%, the operating margin is 8.1%, and the profit margin is 7.9%; these figures collectively demonstrate that for every dollar of revenue, the company retains a small fraction after covering both direct costs and operating overhead. In terms of leverage, Safety Insurance Group, Inc. holds $73.90M in cash against $61.86M in total debt, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 6.93 which suggests a balance sheet with significant leverage relative to equity. However, the current ratio of 0.38 indicates that current assets are less than current liabilities, suggesting a tight short-term liquidity position typical for insurers where claim reserves often exceed immediate liquid assets. Return on Equity is 11.5% and Return on Assets is 3.4%, metrics that reveal management's effectiveness in generating returns on the capital invested by shareholders and utilized in the asset base respectively.
估值评估
The stock trades with a trailing P/E ratio of 11.14 and a forward P/E of 11.95. The slight increase from the trailing to the forward multiple implies that the market expects earnings growth to be slower than the revenue growth rate, or that the current earnings are unusually high due to the 153.2% earnings growth, making future multiples harder to justify. The price-to-book ratio is 1.22, indicating that the market values the company at a 22% premium over its book value, reflecting intangible assets or brand strength within the insurance sector. Alternative valuation metrics show a price-to-sales ratio of 0.87 and an EV/EBITDA of 8.00, suggesting the company is valued conservatively relative to its sales and enterprise earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. The 52-week trading range spans from a low of $67.04 to a high of $84.20, and based on the current market data context, the stock price is situated near the middle to upper end of this historical volatility range. The beta value of 0.22 signifies that the stock exhibits very low price volatility relative to the broader market, moving significantly less than the overall market index during periods of fluctuation.
Growth & Income
Revenue growth year-over-year is 11.4%, while earnings growth year-over-year is 153.2%. The earnings growth rate is substantially faster than the revenue growth rate, which implies a potential one-time gain, a significant change in expense recognition, or a shift in the loss ratio that temporarily inflated profitability. As a dividend payer, the company offers a dividend yield of 4.9% and maintains a payout ratio of 54.3%. This payout ratio is generally considered sustainable given the company's high earnings growth and strong free cash flow generation, allowing it to return capital without compromising future growth initiatives. The combination of double-digit revenue expansion and exceptional earnings growth alongside a nearly 5% dividend yield creates a hybrid profile that offers both capital appreciation potential and income generation.
