公司概述

Ingevity Corporation operates as a specialized manufacturer and distributor of activated carbon products, derivative specialty chemicals, and engineered polymers, serving markets across North America, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. The company functions within the Basic Materials sector and the Specialty Chemicals industry, positioning itself to supply essential materials for diverse industrial applications that require high-performance filtration and processing solutions. With a market capitalization of $2.65B, an annual revenue of $1.17B, and an employee base of 1500, Ingevity demonstrates a significant operational footprint within the global specialty chemicals landscape. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company commands a substantial market presence, suggesting it holds a leading or significant share within its specific niches of performance materials and engineered polymers, thereby establishing a foundational scale that supports its international distribution network.

财务健康

Ingevity Corporation reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $1.17B alongside a net income of -$150,300,000 and an EBITDA of $358.10M, revealing a distinct decoupling between top-line activity and bottom-line profitability that points to significant non-operating costs or one-time expenses impacting the net income figure. The company generated free cash flow of $306.49M, which indicates a robust capacity to generate liquidity from operations despite the reported net losses, providing essential financial flexibility for capital allocation or debt servicing without immediate reliance on external financing. Margin analysis shows a gross margin of 39.5%, an operating margin of 15.2%, and a profit margin of -14.3%, highlighting that while the core production and operational efficiency remain healthy, substantial costs outside of direct operations are eroding overall profitability. On the balance sheet, total cash stands at $78.10M against total debt of $1.24B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 4184.18, which characterizes the capital structure as highly leveraged and potentially vulnerable to interest rate fluctuations or refinancing risks. Liquidity position is further quantified by a current ratio of 1.33, suggesting the company maintains sufficient short-term assets to cover its current liabilities, though the margin is relatively tight given the high leverage. Return on equity is reported at -133.7% while return on assets sits at 8.9%, a disparity that reveals management is struggling to generate shareholder value relative to equity invested, yet still managing assets effectively to produce earnings before interest and taxes, though equity dilution or significant liabilities are suppressing the ROE metric.

估值评估

The valuation metrics present a complex picture with a trailing P/E ratio of N/A and a forward P/E of 12.54, implying that while current earnings do not support a traditional valuation multiple, the market anticipates a recovery in earnings that would bring the stock to a reasonable forward multiple. The price-to-book ratio is exceptionally high at 89.58, indicating that the market is pricing the company at a massive premium over its book value, likely reflecting intangible assets, proprietary technology, or future growth potential that is not captured in the historical book value of assets. Alternative valuation metrics such as a price-to-sales ratio of 2.27 and an EV/EBITDA of 10.64 suggest that investors are focusing on revenue generation and cash flow potential rather than current profitability, though these multiples are elevated compared to typical mature industrial peers. The stock's trading range over the last year spans from a 52-week low of $28.49 to a 52-week high of $77.46, meaning the current price sits at a level that reflects significant volatility and potential upside or downside depending on earnings stabilization, though the exact current price percentage relative to the high requires calculation based on real-time data not provided. The beta of 1.27 indicates that the stock's price volatility is 27% higher than the broader market, suggesting that Ingevity is more sensitive to market swings than large-cap peers, which adds a layer of risk for risk-averse investors seeking stability in the materials sector.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year has declined by 14.6%, while earnings growth is listed as N/A due to the negative net income position, implying that the company is currently in a contraction phase where declining revenues are not being offset by improved margins or cost cuts, leading to a simultaneous deterioration in both top-line and bottom-line metrics. As a non-dividend payer with a dividend yield of N/A and a payout ratio of 0.0%, the company does not distribute cash to shareholders, signaling a strategy of retaining all earnings to fund operations, reduce debt, or invest in growth initiatives rather than providing current income to investors. This absence of dividends combined with negative net income suggests that the firm prioritizes capital preservation and operational restructuring over shareholder returns during this challenging financial period. Overall, the growth and income profile for Ingevity Corporation is characterized by revenue contraction and a lack of dividend income, reflecting a transitional phase where the company must navigate margin pressures and revenue declines to restore profitability before potentially resuming income distributions or achieving sustainable earnings growth.
