公司概述

Materion Corporation operates as a global manufacturer of advanced engineered materials, serving diverse industries through its Performance Materials, Electronic Materials, Precision Optics, and Other segments across the United States, Asia, Europe, and international markets. The company is categorized within the Basic Materials sector and specifically functions in the Other Industrial Metals & Mining industry, positioning it as a provider of critical components essential for high-performance applications. Materion Corporation currently commands a market capitalization of $3.39 billion, supported by an annual revenue of $1.79 billion and an workforce comprising 2,880 employees. These valuation and revenue figures indicate that the company maintains a substantial mid-cap profile, suggesting a solid operational scale capable of competing within the specialized industrial metals landscape while managing significant fixed costs associated with global production facilities.

财务健康

The company generated revenue of $1.79 billion over the trailing twelve months, resulting in a net income of $74.82 million and an EBITDA of $184.51 million. The substantial gap between the $1.79 billion revenue and the $74.82 million net income reveals a cost structure characterized by significant operating expenses, including the costs of raw materials, labor, and distribution that absorb a large portion of top-line growth. Materion's financial flexibility is constrained by a free cash flow of $24.59 million, which reflects the capital intensity of its operations and the cash required to maintain its extensive manufacturing infrastructure. Profitability analysis shows a gross margin of 17.3%, an operating margin of 2.6%, and a profit margin of 4.2%, indicating that the company operates with thin profit buffers typical of commodity-based industrial businesses where pricing power is limited. On the balance sheet, the company holds $15.17 million in cash against total debt of $540.65 million, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 57.32%, which suggests a leveraged capital structure rather than a conservative, cash-rich position. Liquidity is supported by a current ratio of 3.11, demonstrating that the company possesses ample short-term assets relative to its current liabilities to meet immediate obligations. Return metrics show a Return on Equity of 8.3% and a Return on Assets of 4.1%, indicating that while management generates returns on shareholder capital, the asset base efficiency is moderate given the heavy industrial nature of the business.

估值评估

Valuation metrics for Materion Corporation include a trailing twelve-month P/E ratio of 45.40 and a forward P/E of 22.18. The significant disparity between the high trailing P/E and the lower forward P/E implies that the market expects a substantial reduction in current earnings or that current earnings levels are not sustainable in the near term without significant operational improvements. The stock trades at a price-to-book ratio of 3.58, indicating a market premium over the company's book value that investors may attribute to the specialized nature of its engineered materials or expectations of future growth, despite current profitability challenges. Alternative valuation measures such as a price-to-sales ratio of 1.90 and an EV/EBITDA of 21.16 suggest that the market is pricing the stock based on future revenue potential and earnings power rather than current cash flow generation. Price action over the last year has seen the stock fluctuate between a 52-week high of $172.03 and a 52-week low of $70.92. Relative to this historical range, the current trading price sits significantly below the 52-week high, reflecting recent market volatility or sector-specific headwinds that have suppressed the stock price from its annual peak. The stock exhibits a beta of 0.91, meaning its price volatility is slightly less than that of the broader market, suggesting it may offer a margin of stability compared to more aggressive industrial peers during periods of market turbulence.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth for the trailing twelve months stands at 12.1%, while earnings growth is not available for comparison in the provided data. The absence of reported earnings growth figures alongside positive revenue expansion suggests that top-line gains have not yet translated into proportional bottom-line improvements, potentially due to the previously noted thin profit margins or one-time costs affecting the net income calculation. Materion Corporation currently pays a dividend with a yield of 0.3% and maintains a payout ratio of 15.5%. This low payout ratio indicates that the company retains the vast majority of its earnings, prioritizing reinvestment into its advanced materials operations, debt reduction, or share buybacks rather than distributing significant cash to shareholders. Given the modest dividend yield and the company's leverage profile, the income profile is minimal, serving primarily as a small supplement to total return rather than a primary driver of shareholder value. Overall, the company presents a growth-oriented industrial profile with limited current income distribution, relying on operational leverage and revenue expansion to drive future shareholder value creation.
