公司概述

Matthews International Corporation operates globally as a provider of brand solutions, memorialization products, and industrial technologies. The company is classified within the Industrials sector and functions specifically within the Conglomerates industry, indicating a diversified operational structure across multiple distinct business lines. Its scale is defined by a market capitalization of $837.60M, an annual revenue of $1.38B, and a workforce comprising 4300 employees. These valuation and revenue metrics suggest the company maintains a significant operational footprint, though the relatively modest market cap relative to its revenue base points to specific valuation characteristics often found in industrial conglomerates with cyclical or niche exposure.

财务健康

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $1.38B and a net income of $22.63M, while generating an EBITDA of $83.88M. The substantial gap between the $1.38B revenue figure and the $22.63M net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses and other deductions consume the majority of gross earnings before arriving at the bottom line. Despite the lower net income, the business generated $94.00M in free cash flow, which signifies a strong capacity to generate liquidity independent of non-cash accounting adjustments and provides financial flexibility for capital allocation. Profitability efficiency is reflected in a gross margin of 35.3%, an operating margin of -4.5%, and a profit margin of 1.6%, indicating that while the core product sales are profitable, significant operating costs or segment-specific losses are eroding overall earnings. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $31.36M against total debt of $588.65M, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 108.36, which characterizes the company as highly leveraged rather than conservative. Liquidity management is assessed through a current ratio of 1.51, suggesting the firm holds sufficient short-term assets to cover its immediate obligations. Return on Equity stands at 4.7% and Return on Assets is 0.8%, metrics that collectively indicate management effectiveness is currently constrained by the high leverage and the compressed net income relative to the asset base.

估值评估

Valuation multiples for Matthews International include a trailing P/E ratio of 37.90 and a forward P/E of 22.43, where the significant difference implies expectations of a sharp improvement in future earnings relative to current levels. The price-to-book ratio is 1.54, indicating that the market prices the stock at a modest premium over its book value, reflecting intangible assets or growth potential beyond tangible net worth. Alternative valuation metrics such as a price-to-sales ratio of 0.61 and an EV/EBITDA of 16.63 provide context that the company trades at a low multiple of sales but a higher multiple of cash flow, suggesting the market values its cash generation capability differently than its book or revenue figures. Price momentum over the last year is contained between a 52-week high of $29.11 and a 52-week low of $18.60, with the current share price trading at approximately 43.5% below the 52-week high based on the recent market data provided. The stock exhibits a beta of 1.12, which means its price volatility is historically higher than the broader market, exposing investors to increased sensitivity to general equity market fluctuations.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth over the past year declined by 29.1% year-over-year, while earnings growth is listed as N/A, indicating that the relationship between revenue contraction and earnings is complex or that earnings data is not currently available for direct year-over-year comparison in this period. The company currently pays a dividend with a yield of 3.8%, supported by a payout ratio of 141.6%, which suggests the dividend is being funded from cash flows or reserves rather than current annual earnings, potentially raising questions about long-term sustainability without earnings recovery. Given the payout ratio exceeding 100%, the firm is technically distributing more in dividends than it earns in net income, a strategy that relies heavily on free cash flow generation to maintain shareholder returns. The overall growth and income profile presents a scenario of declining revenue coupled with a high-yield dividend that requires careful monitoring of cash flow stability to ensure it does not outpace the company's ability to generate it.
