公司概述

Koppers Holdings Inc. operates within the Basic Materials sector, specifically focusing on the Specialty Chemicals industry, where it manufactures and distributes treated wood products, wood preservation chemicals, and carbon compounds across the United States, Australasia, Europe, and international markets. The company's operational scale is defined by a market capitalization of $727.44M and an annual revenue of $1.88B, supported by a workforce of 1859 employees. These financial metrics indicate that Koppers functions as a mid-cap enterprise with a substantial revenue base, positioning it as a significant player in niche chemical and material markets rather than a massive diversified conglomerate. The specific focus on carbon materials, performance chemicals, and railroad/utility products suggests a specialized business model that relies on industrial demand cycles and long-term contracts with utility and transportation clients.

财务健康

The company reported a revenue of $1.88B and an EBITDA of $312.60M over the trailing twelve months, while net income stood at $56.00M, revealing a cost structure where operating expenses and taxes consume a significant portion of pre-tax earnings. This gap between revenue and net income, combined with a profit margin of 3.0%, indicates that the business operates with thin profitability relative to its top-line sales, typical for capital-intensive chemical manufacturing. Despite the lower net income, the company generated $44.46M in free cash flow, which provides a baseline of financial flexibility for capital expenditures, debt servicing, or potential share repurchases. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $38.10M against total debt of $1.03B, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 178.62, which characterizes a highly leveraged capital structure reliant on external financing. Liquidity remains robust with a current ratio of 2.94, indicating that current assets are nearly three times current liabilities, offering a strong buffer against short-term obligations. Return on Equity stands at 10.5% while Return on Assets is 7.9%, suggesting that management generates moderate returns on shareholder capital and total assets, though the high leverage compresses the ROA relative to the ROE.

估值评估

Valuation multiples for Koppers include a trailing P/E ratio of 13.52 and a forward P/E of 7.80, implying that the market expects a significant expansion in earnings growth that would compress the multiple from current levels to the forward projection. The price-to-book ratio is 1.26, indicating that the stock trades at a modest premium of 26% above its book value, reflecting investor confidence in the quality of its assets and future cash flows. Alternative valuation metrics such as a price-to-sales ratio of 0.39 and an EV/EBITDA of 5.49 suggest the company is priced at a discount relative to its sales and earnings power compared to many peers in the chemical sector. Regarding price momentum, the stock's 52-week high is $39.50 and its 52-week low is $22.99, placing the current trading price in a specific context within this historical range to gauge potential volatility. The beta value is 1.30, which indicates that the stock's price volatility is 30% higher than the broader market, making it a more sensitive instrument to macroeconomic shifts or sector-specific downturns.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth year-over-year declined by 9.3%, while earnings growth data is not currently available, suggesting that the company is currently in a contractionary phase or reporting non-recurring items that obscure the true earnings trajectory. The dividend yield is 1.0% with a payout ratio of 11.7%, indicating that the company retains the vast majority of its net income, which provides ample room to sustain or increase dividends even if earnings fluctuate. This low payout ratio suggests a conservative approach to capital allocation where the company prioritizes debt reduction or operational reinvestment over distributing cash to shareholders. The overall growth and income profile reflects a mature, cyclical business currently facing revenue headwinds but maintaining a sustainable dividend stream supported by a conservative cash burn rate relative to its earnings.
