Bedrijfsoverzicht

Sypris Solutions, Inc. is a specialized manufacturer that provides essential components for the truck, oil and gas, water pipeline, aerospace, and defense sectors, serving markets across North America and Mexico. The company operates within the Consumer Cyclical sector, specifically focusing on the Auto Parts industry, which categorizes its performance and risks relative to consumer spending cycles and automotive demand. As of the latest available data, the entity holds a market capitalization of $76.69M and employs a workforce of 548 individuals to support its operations. With an annual revenue of $119.89M, these financial metrics position the company as a mid-sized enterprise within its niche, suggesting a business scale that relies on steady but limited volume compared to large-cap automotive giants. The relatively modest market cap and revenue figures indicate that the company operates with a focused business model rather than seeking broad diversification, making it sensitive to fluctuations in specific industrial supply chains.

Financiële gezondheid

The company reported a trailing twelve-month revenue of $119.89M, yet this top-line activity resulted in a net income of $-6,338,000 and an EBITDA of $-4,333,000. The substantial gap between the positive revenue figure and the significant negative net income reveals a cost structure where operating expenses, likely including research and development for specialized electronics and component manufacturing, heavily outweigh gross profits. Free cash flow stands at $-3,435,000, indicating that the company is currently burning cash, which implies limited financial flexibility for capital expenditures or organic expansion without external financing. Profitability metrics are negative across the board, with a gross margin of 7.8%, an operating margin of -11.3%, and a profit margin of -5.3%, signaling that the company is unable to cover its fixed costs and operational overheads with its current revenue stream. The balance sheet shows a cash position of $6.77M against total debt of $26.20M, resulting in a debt-to-equity ratio of 147.27%, which characterizes the balance sheet as highly leveraged and reliant on equity financing to manage obligations. Liquidity is constrained, evidenced by a current ratio of 1.28, meaning the company holds just enough current assets to cover short-term liabilities, leaving little buffer for unexpected operational shocks. Return on equity is -33.9% and return on assets is -3.9%, metrics that collectively reveal that management has not yet generated returns for shareholders or utilized assets effectively to produce earnings, reflecting the challenging nature of the current business environment.

Waarderingsbeoordeling

Valuation multiples are not available in the traditional sense, as the trailing P/E ratio is N/A and the forward P/E is also N/A, a status that implies the market cannot value the stock based on current or future earnings expectations due to the lack of profitability. Despite the absence of earnings-based multiples, the price-to-book ratio stands at 4.31, indicating that the market is pricing the company at a significant premium relative to its book value, potentially reflecting high growth expectations or asset-heavy characteristics not fully captured on the balance sheet. Alternative valuation metrics provide further insight, with a price-to-sales ratio of 0.64 and an EV/EBITDA of -22.18, suggesting that investors are valuing the firm based on revenue generation rather than earnings power, though the negative EV/EBITDA highlights the fundamental lack of cash flow generation. The stock's price volatility is contextualized by a 52-week high of $4.74 and a 52-week low of $1.53, placing the current trading price within a wide historical range that reflects significant investor sentiment shifts over the past year. The beta value of 0.81 suggests that the stock's price volatility is slightly lower than the broader market, indicating that Sypris Solutions moves with a moderate correlation to general market movements rather than acting as a defensive or highly aggressive play.

Growth & Income

Revenue growth over the last year stands at -9.5%, while earnings growth is N/A, indicating that the company is currently contracting in terms of top-line sales rather than expanding its market share. The absence of earnings growth, combined with negative revenue growth, implies that the company is struggling to maintain its previous revenue base, likely due to competitive pressures or a downturn in the specific automotive and defense segments it serves. As a non-dividend payer, the company does not distribute cash to shareholders, evidenced by a dividend yield of N/A and a payout ratio of 0.0%, meaning all available cash is theoretically available for operations, debt repayment, or potential reinvestment, though currently being used to cover losses. The overall growth and income profile is characterized by contraction and a lack of income distribution, presenting a scenario where the company is in a turnaround or restructuring phase rather than a mature growth stage capable of delivering shareholder returns through dividends or earnings expansion.
